Given that he's a British writer at the forefront of Weird-Fi (and yes, I am a fan, and yes, you should pick up and read his work, and no, I'm not going to gush any more), with an interest in comics, it seems impossible to me that he hasn't at least *heard* of 2000AD...

Thought I might as well bump this.

Given that he has now written comics (Hellblazer #500 and the aborted Swamp Thing project), including one with a bona fide droid who has just returned to the House of Tharg (Liam Sharp on "On The Way To The Front" in Looking for Jake), and has appeared at events with droids (a panel at San Diego as well as the same SFX Weekender) getting him onboard at 2000AD seems a natural fit. Granted it won't pay as well as his main writing gig and there is the lure of the American comic book but there seems to be a creator-owned slot in the Meg - possibly getting something serialised here and then collected in a graphic novella might be the kind of cherry that could interest him.

Wishful thinking, I know but there are lines of communication open and we know he is interested in the medium so...

Interesting developments, almost as if bringing this thread back to life has summoned it forth - Mieville has started posting a comic strip on his blog called "London Intrusion." There is no explanation and I can't find anything online about it (and my web-fu is strong) but it does seem to be his (as Netiquette would require a link or a credit if it was being reposted from elsewhere) and the lack of an artists credit might suggest he is drawing it too. However, these all assumptions and, so far, it is suitably mysterious.
