UK Web Comix Thing 2004

Hi,

This is an offiacial call for special guests for the forth coming UK Web & Mini Comix Thing 2004. We are looking for skilled artists to sit around and look at peoples work and draw things for them. Required skills include a claim to fame and the ability to draw. The amount of time you put in is up to you, but we are looking to bill special guests as attractions. Please find below the standard e-mail that is going out to potential special guests:

Hi,

You have been sent this e-mail because we consider you a suitable candidate to be a special guest at the Web & Mini Comix Thing 2004 which is being held in Stepney, London on the 6 March 2004, details of which can be found here, www.ukwebcomixthing.co.uk.

We are looking for special Guests to hang about in the creators workshop area, reviewing peoples work and drawing for the visitors. You can turn up for as long as you like and become as involved as you like. If it is something that you have an interest in then please contact myself and we can discuss.

The day is aimed at mini comix and web comix, and as such we want to appear as leading edge as possible, and appeal to the younger generation by getting them involved and letting them know that they can do it. A great way of doing this is to have experienced and skilled people present to inspire them on the day, and to be their highlight of the event. I can remember my first UKCAC years ago and there was some famous guy who showed me how to draw a face based on a cube, I cant remember who he was, but is was a big thing for me, and as such I want to make sure the same experience is available to the THINGS visitors. In short, the special guests are important to the success of this event and the experience that visitors will take home with them.

If your up for this, if your in London at the time and you want to become an integral part of the events attractions, then please contact me.

All the best.

Patrick Findlay
UK Web & Mini Comix thing 2004 coordinator.

I have posted here because I detect a degree of talent and am hoping that you guys might be able to point me in the right direction with regards to identifying suitable people as the only person I could think of is Tony Millionaire and he is not available.

If anyone cares to suggest any names, or wants to put themselves forward then please e-mail or communicate through the events official message board.

Cheers.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we've all got such fantastic taste, look at our record collections, oh they're just so cool...

You can't fool me. Everyone has records that they hide away desperately hoping no-one will ever find out about. I'm not talking about stuff you were mildly disappointed with and never bothered playing again, I mean the sort of thing that deeply shames you, makes you cringe with embarrasment that you were once stupid enough to think "this is cool, and worth my paying money for".

I, for instance, have in my time bought records by drab indie losers Lush and smart-arse punchable shit pun merchants Carter USM. And as a sad, sad 13 year old, I was actually a member of the Thompson Twins Fan Club. There are probably other horrors, but I've blanked them from my mind.

So come on, what are the showers of shite nestling among your otherwise oh-so-impeccable collections? Confess!
