I wonder if there would be a different reaction had a woman wrote it?

stront692

sounds like the kind of opinion my english teacher would say, hold and deem highly worthy

heh

VampiraJen

is mispunctuate even a proper word? or have i completly missed the point?

rc

It's not in my little red dictionary.

Devons Daddy

so i cant spell.
who the hell cares. apart form this guy.
he has to much time on his hands. he misses the point of the internet experience for all it can be.
he seems to take everything far to seriously.

we should send him an invite to play with us.
but he sounds like he needs to get out more. and perhaps find a companion.

though he would likely kill file me for  crimes against the dictionary.
I AM VERY BUSY!
PJ Maybe and I use the same dictionary, live with it.

NO 2000ad no life!

Floyd-the-k

the guy had a few good points - especially about wandering from the point of threads and how agitated people get about religion..
overall the spelling issue doesn{t bother me on this thread
I think he forgot to mention the last-word disease so prevalent, according to which everyone has to make a point themselves, regardless of how many times it has already been made. This tendency is very pronounced on the English Teachers in Japan message board...one person asks if its okay to sing Ten Little Indians in a kids class. The rest of the posters divide up into Yes It Is and No Its A Crime against Native Americans camps, but all of them make the same points over and over and.....
I like this board much better

If he thinks all these people he's going on about are worthless scum who spout nothing but "drivel" and are generally not worth the time of day, why does he feel the need to spend time setting up a webpage devoted to them?

Just wondering, like.

rc

Taking the internet experience too seriously?

Perhaps, but then there are those who want it both ways - i.e. fun & games when it suits them and "suddenly straightening up" and pulling the plug as it were once a variable viewpoint is expressed.

I find the control-freak powermonger stance adopted in some chat rooms [Talk City for one]
for "keeping visitors in line" excruciatingly anal and bizarrely militant considering the medium involved.

I'm amazed that so many people are irked by that page. Apart from the irony of one spelling error being apparent, I thought I contained some useful information, presented in an amusing fashion. I also happen to agree with many of his points. Maybe it's because I'm a writer and sometimes-editor, but when people say they can't be bothered to use "proper" English online, I always wonder why - after all, "proper" English is easier to read.

when u see stuff like this on the web and its every where these day's yuo end up ignoring most of it bcos its just so hard to read epecially if it goes on and on and on

rc

"I thought I contained some useful information"???

Tell us, then!

Dudley

Well, I found #2 useful...

Overuse Mutated Ellipses.
Never use a comma, a dash, a (semi) colon, or a period. If you absolutely must punctuate---to end what would otherwise pass for a sentence, for instance---toss in either two, or four (or more) dots as an "ellipsis".This will come across as lazy, gutless, and flippant all at once: pure wanker

How about stop being a pretencious and intellectually arrogant twat?  Thats the rule I try to keep to.......  the person who wrote this?? ;-)

Chill out relax, try not to belittle anyone (except you know who) and just speak to people like you would down the pub.

Er, it's a retorical device?

I'm amazed that so many people are irked by that page.

I'm amazed that some of them are people who are at least close to sensible usually, and seem to be getting upset on behalf of people with verbal diarrhoea.

rc

Yes, there is something in that, isn't there?
