Just been told that the long-rumoured Pixies tour is definitely on. Dates yet to be confirmed...

Not heard much by this band but have heard of their reputation, I am though currently enjoying Frank Black's first two solo albums on my portable mp3 player.

Tanky

Apparently Glastonbury's a definite!!
Woohoo!

Capt.Zeep

Excellent news!  I think....

Will they come anywhere near recapturing the freshness and energy of their original sound?

What sort of state's Kim Deal going to be in?

Unlikely that they'll play Newcastle Riverside for a fiver a ticket though, ah happy days.

Guess I'll go and see them if they come anywhere near here, they were a class band and occupy a special place in the Zeep collective heart & record collection.

Mudcrab

Good news indeed. I'd missed them on the closing night of the Aberdeen Venue in ooooh 1988 I think :o)

T in the Park might well be essential this year then.
NEGOTIATION'S OVER!

Quirkafleeg

Anyone want to recommend a first album purchase... the've not done a 'greatest hits' have they?

Rosso

Saw the pixies in 1990 in glasgow. great band. reunion is a bad idea.

Slippery PD

Gary they indeed have and a sendmail may......

fill in the blanks.

eggonlegs

oooooooooooooooo this smart monkey flesh has gone to heaven

Red Alarm

Good stuff!  Doolittle is one of my favorite CD's EVER, so I can't complain that they're getting back together

:-D

Gary - if you want a Greatest Hits, get DEATH TO THE PIXIES. There's a version around with a second CD with live tracks, IIRC.

Studio albums:
SURFER ROSA / COME ON PILGRIM
(Usually now found in the two-album collection; Come On Pilgrim is very rare on its own.)

DOOLITTLE

BOSSANOVA

TROMPE LE MONDE

There's also LIVE AT THE BBC and a B-sides collection knocking around somewhere. Oh, and when you've listened to that, go download the p*sstake, MOTHERBANGER, from www.cookdandbombd.co.uk

There's a new "Best of" CD coming out this year, as well as a DVD with vids, live stuff and a documentary. I'm sure it's entirely co-incidence that this is all coming out at the same time as they re-form. ;)
