Killfile.

Personally, I've never felt the need to killfile. I just shout and swear at the screen while I'm reading.

I used to read every single post on the board, but obviously now there are some that I just ignore. I still have my favourites though, and I read everything that they post. Sad, I know. :)

This is a really upsetting thread. For what it's worth, I reckon anyone who wants to should killfile rather than leave. It seems like the bloke in question's pretty much talking to himself as it is. However, i also think that maybe we should give him a set amount of time to settle in and if he's still causing this much upset, a ban should be in order. This is just one womans opinion, but i don't like to see people i've come to regard as friends getting this distressed and if i can help, then i wanna

All of this can't be pleasant for you either, rc. I know it's not nice to come to any site and be faced with a load of abuse, regardless of who started it or who it's aimed at. And no matter what you think of the boarders here, you're hurting them. And that's not going to help anyone.

There are a lot of people in the world and if everyone agreed on everything, that'd just be boring.

Well, all this talk about 'frog marching' and 'blooded noses' is indicative of massive insecurities. Unfortunately, i do know what I'm talking about.

Having spent my former career dealing with the kind of stereotypes Bou uses in the 'this happened to me one night at my local 2 bit boozer' anecdotes. I find myself fascinated with online social interaction, mainly due to the fact that there is absolutely NO physicality.

So look at it this way, in many ways rc has shown himself to be a 'heavyweight' and by uniting in a war on cyber terrorism, many of YOU (not "us" ok PVS ?) have displayed the classic signs of what I termed earlier as the mob mentality.

I say this not as one of your close friends, nor as part of any clique. I wouldn't spit champagne on any of your rad-fires, including rc.

So what right do I have posting up my critique ?Merely as an observationalist,,ism..thing

And for the sake of any younger readers who may stray on to the board from time to time, perhaps implied threats or harping on about how 'hard' you are really isn't the way forward. Obviously that's only my opinion, do as thou wilt.

I'm not really here enough or would know how to use the killfile function but after reading several threads here recently I can see why some people here would.

I often consider what people visiting or lurking this site may think of any clashes, it may well scare them off posting, generally I find this a good natured site and it's refreshing.

As an ex-moderator and forum regular elsewhere I've seen this kind of crap numerous times and then some...

I was (so I'm told) respected on my other site, I brought everything I knew about my chosen subject to the site and was considered a nice guy, then it started, emails from trolls telling me they were happy my Dad had died and that my mother killed him, nice eh,
Accusations about listening into Yahoo chatroom conversations (I'm no tek head but this is impossible me thinks?) well it is at 4am in my sleep, and so net/forum stalkers slowly crushed a great site, most appeared and posted on topic and then show their true colours and then BANG.

I actually got the following email this morning after posting a message about my upcoming website on another board:

Like I said I've seen much what's going on here happen before today, this site isn't going down the pan at all, this matter may be a problem but it's something that can be sorted out.
I may not know many of you and don't contribute much here or get much response, but can I suggest the regulars don't stay away and use the killfile if you need to, it's the good guys and gals and spirit who keep places like this alive, trust a veteran.

How does the Killfile work btw?

Just to make it clear:
I know exactly what ed's talking about, not because I belong to some secret gang or anything, but because I used to post on the board he moderated.
And he's right. This sort of thing, when it gets to a certain level, will hammer a board into submission. But I'm of the belief that it will pass. Either everybody will calm down and settle into the board, or get bored (that was clever, eh?) and go away.

Hiya mate, no girlfriend right now but (but always keep my remaining eye open lol) DJing Fri/Sat night certainly provides me with eye candy on the non gay variety.

Lisa on the site used to follow me around and we'd flirt, she's a really sweet and generous lady but I got hassle for it all while others did the same thing and it did but pressure on me amid the other nonsense going on there.

The sad thing is some of these losers now post on another site, talk about emoticons and crap and nothing on topic, so now out of boredom calling people like me is back in fashion, in their ignorance they don't realise they brought the site down, perhaps one day they will look back on their vileness and consider they were wrong and could have considered people's feelings.

btw my good pal for nearly 28 years "Mike" is gay, it's never been a big deal and it's his business, perhaps me liking women is weird to him, I think people who mail and post the crap using gay terminology as a weapon my have deeper issues within themselves, some inner fears etc.


My new site (see link, a plug!) is still some time off, but this is mearly a platform for what's to come, managed to secure some great images I'd never seen in nearly 30 years.

Menaces like that are rife on the internet Ed, but I think you need to adopt a thick skin as quick as you can and not let such things in.

The amount of humanity involved in the medium clearly varies from person-to-person, but just remember on here you are generally conveying your thoughts through typed words and that is all - it is much easier to casually insult other users through the net than it is in real life, for just that reason.

Heh. I used to work with a guy who got on like this all the time. To the point of, if something like the Pet Shop Boys came on the radio, he would go into a long rant about how he wouldn't even sit next to one... That is, until i asked him why, if women didn't find him attractive, would he think that men would.

I kind of figured the site would involve That Fish... looks like it'll be interesting ed, keep us informed, eh?
