IMDB's back to saying the 16th of April (with France on the 14th). I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Buddy

Jonathan Woss last night mentioned a September release.

I am now officially confused!!!

Wils

I've got it down as 3rd Sept

Woohoo! That means I may get to see it as a birthday treat. :)

Mangamax

Yep, it IS 3rd Sept.
Everything else is old information.

Dunk!

So we'll be able to buy it on Region 1 import DVD as it gets it's cinema release in this country.

Excellent.

And with the strong pound exchange rate.

More excellent.

Where have you heard this from? Bear in mind that IMDB changed the UK release date (and many European ones) from April to September a week ago. However, *today*, the French and British dates were changed back to mid-April.

Dan Kelly

This is from Guillermo Del Toro (director) on the Official boards:

Hi guys:

The Release date in the US is April 2nd and the MAIN international release has indeed been pushed several months back. Rest assured NO ONE at Columbia is fearing a flop, the movie was screened for them and they are really pushing it hard and love it.

The reason for the delay?? HELLBOY the comic is not a well-known property -like SPIDER-MAN and they feel they need to "educate" the audience.

Do they have a point?? Gee- I really can't tell. But I know there is a fact that I very easily forget: Hellboy is still a secret to most of the world and it takes a lot of work and time to get the word out and to spread the promotional materials, etc...

Now, let me tell you this: EVERYTHING can change for the good if the movie performs very, very strongly in the US things will change. Right now -to them- the summer in Europe and Asia seems crowded (VAN HELSING, POTTER, TROY, CATWOMAN, etc) but really, it all depends on the US performance.

Stay tuned...

Not a happy bunny, we may get a repreive, but I'm more likely to get the DVD in May from across the pond...

IndigoPrime

Yeah, I read that, but he posted that message before IMDB changed the dates back. I reckon Sony would be mad to put the date back until September. The movie's getting loads of publicity right now and magazines won't print huge features on the same movie twice, yet people simply won't remember Hellboy come the autumn.

Mangamax

I got 3rd Sept from the official release schedule sent out to UK cinemas, coming directly from the distributors

Devons Daddy

im not sure about UK
but last night i saw the 3 minute trailer

THIS YEARS BIG ONE!!!!!!!!!

its bloody awsome, and looks set to be a sadcomic fan boy/girl wetdream.

the look of hellboy himself is perfect. they have him to the correct scale. his car stopping manouvere is enough to make you stand up and clap in the cinema itself.
after seeing this. i cant wait.
outstanding. on the big screen. go and see any movie just for this trailer.
I AM VERY BUSY!
PJ Maybe and I use the same dictionary, live with it.

NO 2000ad no life!

Just started Minibolt on the GN's.

Hope to have a fully fledged Hellboy fan giving it pester power to the max when the film comes out.

Hang on, what is the Cert?

It doesn't have one as yet. In the US, they're going for PG-13, which means it'll either be 12A or (more likely) 15, in the UK.

Mr D

Considering the (brilliant but dark) director, and the subject matter, it'll probably be a 15. Might be lucky though and get a 12A

Mangamax

Lucky and get a 12A???? You're kidding right? Have no-brainers bring their 5 year olds along cause then they don't need a baby sitter, little bastiges then talk through all the "boring" bits, get upset at the patentley inappropiate scenes they're viewing and, to cap it all, you're watching a cut version of the film you've been waiting to see.
Sure, you can see the uncut version when it comes out on DVD but wouldn't to be better to see the full version on the big screen?
Think Terminator 3

Now confirmed (again) by IMDB. Amazingly, the French release has been put back EVEN FURTHER, to October! I guess Sony has zero faith in this film, sadly.
