By all rights this should be very poor indeed, but Grud help me, it looks rather good.

It *does* look quite good from what I've seen, but I've still got horrific memories of Stiller & Wilson in Zoolander, so I'm going to wait for the rental release...

Rio De Fideldo

I thought better of you blackblood.

Zoolander was the best comedy of the last few years.

"Merman! MERMAN!"

"I invited the piano key neck tie. What have you ever invented? Nothing, NOTHING!"

Great Billy Zane cameo too.

Rio: Zoolander is the only film I've ever walked out of, which should give you some idea of how much I enjoyed it :-)

Mr D

Zoolander was pretty darn good, bit overrated, and you had to be relatively familiar with the world it was mocking to 'get' a lot of it.

I'd written this off in the 'big mistake' pile, but having watched that I've revised my opinion. The horse bit was good, the dialogue was snappy, the car parts were fast and stylish, and the comedy was brilliantly realised. I didn't like Snoop Dogg as Huggy Bear though... Wait and see with that.

Yay, a new film that might be good!

I liked "Meet the Parents" a lot more than Zoolander.  Anyone else like that?
Pffft...

Queen Firey-Bou

i lost my post to a starship trooper...

what i previously said was " yadda yadda Nooooooooo ! starsky & hutch fave first pin ups after Alias smith n jones ( the cowboys not fat comedic types ) blah blah "

Tiplodocus

I could watch Owen Wilson all day.  He has this bizarre, lazy, charisma that just makes him liekable.  Even in MEET THE PARENTS.

I saw the trailer for "Starsky and Hutch" and it did make me laugh a couple of times - sadly, probably the entire laugh quotient for the film was in the trailer. And the entire plot. And all the best stunts. Don't they understand what a trailer is these days? It should NOT be editted highlights!

How can you not like Zoolander? Admittedly it wasn't great but you've got to give respect to a  film which has the conceit to cast Stiller and Wilson as male supermodels.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

Generally Contrary

Mugatu: I present to you the Derek Zoolander Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Would Like To Do Other Things Good.
Zoolander: Is this a center for ants?
Mugatu: What?
Zoolander: How can the children read when they cant even fit inside the building?

Edited highlights of a film is EXACTLY what a trailer is, so it can be sold to the public on its strengths.

A few decades ago, some filmmakers would cram in just about every big scene and plot-twist they could into about 3 minutes... leaving only characterisation filler to be discovered in the actual film!

"Teasers" are better [remember ALIEN?], but are only much use to certain types of movie.

Priv8eye

I thought it looked ok for a laugh until I read Tips post.

Probably won't bother with it now.

Bony Fella

I always found that Meet The Parents was more like that. And it wasn't as funny as the trailer! Felt a bit let down by that. This looks good, and I couldn't tell you the exact plot beyond mismatched-cops-foil-bad-guy, but that was going to be it anyway wasn't it??

Scottiepunk

Snoop Dogg is Huggy Bear!!

Was Starsky and Hutch a comedy????

petemaskreplica

Well, it had a lot of funny lines in it... not quite like this film seems to be, though. It looks like they've decided to be "ironic" about it all. Oh dear...
