Time will tell. Trailer looks good though

Starsky and Hutch always made me laugh... But not in the way this trailer did. I don't think you could do a 'serious' update of it, it'd be far too cheesy. I prefer this mild self-parody, like Adam West's Batman except waaaay watered down!! And s'long as there is a serious plot in there, it should be ok

The Starsky and Hutch film I would like to see is the one I heard rumours about a few years ago, where Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul return as S&H now, i.e. embittered old cops who get really annoyed that they're not allowed to just beat up the perps like they used to 30 years ago :)

"Edited highlights of a film is EXACTLY what a trailer is, so it can be sold to the public on its strengths"

I'm not sure if I wasn't clear or I'm not understanding you.

I sort of mean that the trailer, these days, tends to leave you with NO reason to go see the film. It's all in the trailer - the jokes, the stunts, the big explosions, the bit where the at-odds couple kiss and makeup.

Maybe trailers have always been like that and it's only now that I'm noticing but I much prefer it when you get a little teaser of the concept behind the film with a load of quick cuts showing ou things that look great (but you don't quite have time to figure out EXACTLY what is going on.

Whenever I look at some older trailers on DVDs, I'm also amazed that they show whole dialogue exchanges and whole scenes. Nowadays it's a frenzy of two to five second cuts.

In fact, I feel, a  trailer these days is kinda like watching the film on Fast Forward (except without the very final scene where he shoots the baddie - and sometimes you get that - anybody see the American "RING" trailer?).

That's got to be a bad thing.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

Weirldly not only did the trailer for "Intolerable Cruelty" show all the decent scenes, but they were edited in a slightly snappier way that made them work better.
