bryan singer is writing the ultimate x men for 12 issues, it starts again with continuity and leads directly into X3

my fave movie ending of all time,
tron is great movie,
battle beyond the stars,
the last starfighter,
filght of the navigator,
arena (of robot jox and crash n burn trilogy),
time guardian (80s time travel rip off with carrie fisher),
cross worlds (star wars spoof)

Devons Daddy

one of the dirty harry movies

something to the effect of.
i know what your thinking.
has he fired six shots or only five, etc.
as the camera pulls away you here the shot.

the good the bad and the ugly.
clint doing his maths. turns to shoot one last baddie.

lee van cleef. every thing ok there.
clint . yeh has some problems with arithmetic, but i got it covered now.
or words that effect.

the raiders trilolgy.
the final movie. our heros ride into the sunset.
a good reason not to make another one.

I AM VERY BUSY!
PJ Maybe and I use the same dictionary, live with it.

NO 2000ad no life!

Eldritch

The end of John Carpenter's The Thing.

                     SPOILER

The two survivors sitting in the ruins of their base, a blizzard coming in around them, neither of them sure if the other guy is still human or not and one says to the other:
"What do we do now?"
And Kurt Russell replies: "Why don't we sit here for a while, see what happens."

Terminally cool.

Steamboy

Bryan Singer writing Ultimate Xmen how cool is that, always thought movie version of Xmen were based more on the Ultimate versions rather than standard universe, same as Spiderman. Wonder if they'll base Fantastic Four on stndard or new Ultimate version?

DD, that was For a Few Dollars More, not Good, Bad and the Ugly.

For A Few Dollars More is one of my fave films and endings, glad you reminded me of it.

How come my mind always goes totally blanko when these questions come up?

I would have to say though - ANY of the Evil Dead movies.

Mr C

Hey, Singer couldn't bollocks it up any more than Millar or Bendis could he? None too keen on the whole ultimate thing apart from the Ultimates, but only because of Bryan Hitch's stunning art.

Best ending ever?
Usual Suspects. Need I say more?

Although Dressed to Kill has an... interesting twist, one that made me shout out "Bloody hell! Michael Caine in a dress!"

Dunk!

The end of Empire Strikes Back.

Han is captured.

Luke is wounded and reeling from the revelation that Vader's his father.

There's a new character at the helm of the Falcon; which looks the biz when it pulls away from the dock.

And the rag-tag rebel fleet is revealed for the first time.

You think after the stunning sunset lit Bespin stuff it can't get any better when it does...

The sweeping John Williams music kicks, the falson pulls away and the fleet moves off, there's a screen wipe and as those famous green titles comes up you realise 3 years wait is going to be excruciating.

(Fast forward to Phantom Menace and realise it may all be a horrible hollow cash-cow for Mr wobble-neck. Arse.)
"Trust we"

The Enigmatic Dr X

Show off your spoddery sci-fi tendancies with this gem the next time someone disses the end of the Burton version of Planet of the Apes:

IT IS THE ENDING FROM THE ORIGINAL BOOK.

For those that don't know what happens, it's at the end of this post. I think Burton gets bad press for "changing" the ending. Why? Surely it was the writer? (Did he write it?) Even if it is his decision, can you criticise him for following the writer's original vision?

Anyway, best endings:

Sixth Sense (good twist, the first time)

Usual Suspects (ditto)

Prince of Darkness (Carpenter's last great film, and a fabulously creepy ending)

The Thing (two men, alone in the snow. Is one an alien? Are they both aliens? I wanna know!)

The Godfather Pt II (the door closes on his wife and his old life. Don't feck with Mike)

24 Season 2. FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS TONIGHT!

(SPOILER)

Our hero repairs his ship and flies back through the space anomaly that brought him to the planet. When he arrives at Earth, he crashes near a memorial. The rescue crews, inexplicably, are apes.
Lock up your spoons!

Actually DD reminded me of another one - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Just after the three-way showdown, Eli Wallch is standing wobbling on that flimsy cross, as he watches Eastwood ride off on his horse. He tries desperately not to move but the cross can't bear his weight much more....

I'm aware that none of this has any relation to the genre but I like them.

Trout

Several of the above, but also Unbreakable, which is a really clever ending with a great line.

Some of my favourite endings:

The Thing
The Wicker Man
Silent Running
Shaft's Big Score!
Dirty Harry
Evil Dead 2
Blair Witch Project
Prince of Darkness
From Dusk Till Dawn

Jared Katooie

I also must mention unbreakable. A seriously stylish yet underrated film.

Quirkafleeg

All of the above, plus

The Hill... total cracker in all ways with a brilliant final bitter twist.
