Some of you will have noticed the site go down again today.

Well I logged into support and discovered that most of the load on the server was due to a single IP address.

203.73.207.167 which resolves to sw73-207-167.adsl.seed.net.tw

Any ideas? I think the support guy might now have blocked that IP address.

Er, scary.

Or it would be if I could understand what's going on.

If you need me to raise an army to fight back, let me know, Wake.

Hmm... Looks like a zombie computer taken over by spammers, with 2K possibly being the victim of a random viral DOS attack...

..hang on, I'll ask someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

Mr C

Re-route the algorithms!

So, does this mean that someone out there is actively attempting to destroy the site? Are the Dictators of Zarg finally employing an IT department?

Capt.Zeep

Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow!

GordonR

It's those pesky Dictators of Zrag.

Slippery PD

Dont cross the streams!!!!

Yer Slips

Mr C

Hmm... Looks like the Dictators have accidentally added me to Gordon's killfile!

Art

Its most likely that the 2K domain was picked completely at random rather than it being an attack that was directed by someone.

I chatted with our MIS, he didn?t seem to think it was anything you should be worried about as long as you have that IP blocked.

Quirkafleeg

I presume you reversed the polarity of the neutron flow or something?

Smiley

Is it just me or does this thread keep vanishing / reappearing?

Quirkafleeg

Whoops infected by the hive mind there.... how about: "I'm living in a Future Shock, and it's shitting me up!"

Mr C

It must be some kind of tear in the board-space continuum.

Wake

Great. when I left the support guy I'd told him that blocking that IP adress would be a good thing, and he's told me he could do it - but not that he had.
