Apparently Aristide did not resign but was forced to leave or be killed by marines in another U.S. coup, so soon after Chavez, the Bastards.

It is interesting that the US troops didn't go in until he left. If they wanted to bring calm they should have gone in before the whole country collapsed into anarchy!

ESCUBRIA

They have no interest in bringing calm, only iron fist rule by paid dictators. There were already U.S. soldiers based in Haiti at the time of the rebel attacks and they just stood back and watched as the rebels were taking control. Of course the rebels were armed by the U.S. too and had full support from Colin Powell.

It also should be mentioned that the U.N., International community did nothing and the French supported the U.S.

Mr C

The US has done this sort of thing for donkeys years, arming rebellions that overthrow democratic governments just so they get first dip of the countrys resources.
Doesn't bother me anymore though, I've given up all hope and interest in politics and inter-country relations and peace and love and all that crap, doen't concern me anymore. I'm concentrating on trying to keep my new job!

You realise of course that every yank film you watch every yank cd or book you buy funds this sort of bollocks so unless anyone is going to actually stop this sort of Facistic Funding by stealth your wasting your time..bring on prog 1380 and lets get back to discussing matters like the colour of Thargs skiddies

test 4 echo

wasnt Aristide put there by the yanks in the first place? and they are denying any part in his removal because the dont want to be seen as actively removing an elected leader?

american foreign policy, its what makes the world go round.

Practically every company in the world is connected or owned in hierarchy the 7 or 8 major corporations in the world: Coke, Exxon etc... so the lets boycott consumerism argument would never work anyway because we all need a certain amount of produce to survive; it's a fact that we have no real choice in what we buy that will stop coroprate greed. And people have to work to get paid so we don't want them to lose their livelihoods by not buying consumer goods.

But political and legislative action still must take place, no matter how hopeless, to try an curb the war machine.

The reason why thousands upon thousands more people were not killed in the last Iraq invasion (unlike the first one) was because more people knew what was going on and protested; there were cameras everywhere in Iraq so the risk of war crimes was lessened by this, the U.S. Admin. know this and they don't like it, thats why they killed reporters from Al Jazeera to stop coverage. It is getting harder to have a major war now and get away with it totally clean, witness the Bush sliding polls and the threat of war crime tribunals at Blair

Mr D

Psh, screw all that, they're green - then he can shock people as they think he's naked when they first glance at him in his underwear :)
