I'm trying to find myself a copy of Lux & Alby, along with a few other Slab titles, but my emails are going unanswered & and the last I heard, there were rumours that they were folding.

Anyone know the current status?

S-o-C is sadly no longer with us. I'm afraid I don't have any contact details for Peter Pavement, but if you want to find out about the UK small press scene, Pete Ashton's Bugpowder site is a good start.

Bugpowder's been great - it's been my main source for small press reviews & news, but I didn't see anything there about the demise of Slab.

It's a real bummer, partly because I'm going to have a hell of a time tracking down those comics, but mainly because it seems to have been one of the best damn publishers in the UK right now.

If anyone here can help me track down any of the following, I'd be most grateful:

Meet John Dark
Sugar Buzz
Lux & Alby sign on & save the universe
Floozy

...and on the off chance:

The Man Who Learnt To Fly

The Man Who Learnt To Fly is fantastic. I saw it advertised in Bugpowder Distribution years ago, but only got hold of a copy last year. Really enjoyed it, but that doesn't help you does it. I'll ask the friend who got me my copy.

As for Sugar Buzz - Woodrow Phoenix will be at Comics 2002 I think, so you could go straight to the source. In fact if you can make it to the festival you may solve all your small press probs.

Don't know if I'll be able to make it to Comics 2002 - I'm leaving these fair shores for Tasmania at the beginning of April!

As for The Man Who Learnt To Fly... I've been in touch with Frazer Irving, and he's waiting to hear from someone who's interested in putting the book back in print. If that falls through, he's toying with the idea of scanning it & making it available as a PDF download. If you hear of a copy going before then, I'd love to know.

I'm a real latecomer to the small press scene in the UK, and I'm not going to make the same mistake when I hit Oz! Some of the stuff coming out of there is fantastic, and I'd love to get involved.

That's a reasonable excuse ;-)

Don't forget to tell us about it.

Believe me, if I can get my "Voodoo gods in New Orleans" script in workable form, find a good collaborator & get it in print, I'll be back to shout from the rooftops.

If... ;-)
