I've come over all strangely giving and philanthropic, not sure why.

Anyway, I was thinking that we have a fairly stable group of online chums here at 2K Boarders - is there anyway we could do something for Charity ?? Save The Children or something ?

I really don't know what, but it could all end up presenting a cheque for Tharg to donate on our behalf at the next Dreddcon or something ??

I mean I dunno if that is just a whip round of boarders or a sponsered marathon 2K read or something more creative, but it might enable us to feel good about ourselves, make the world a marginally better place etc.

Or not ??

I started a thread about the charity auction of last year, suggesting the possibility of auctioning the chance to have characters in named after them. I mention it again in case Tharg is reading this.

yeah, all in favor of such deeds, I'm not so big on the give us yur cash things, since i'm very broke, but silly ideas & enthusiasm yes , count me in ? or would some syndicatey 100 club, pyramid tree, wotsit idea work ? what ?

we're racking brains here for brigade fundraisng sillies, we've got an annual raft race, raised some grands for a lassie burnt in a fire last year. we thinking of car valleting, or at an event doing a sponsored cut a car up & pass it thru a time in a certain time... dunno its hard to think of new fresh ideas.

could we black mail Tharg to put up a certain amount if we all do something silly ?

I'm an active Round Table member and am regularly involved in running charitable events.

For example, this year, I'm putting together a sketching-and-signing session with artists from The Dandy at a local public event.

As far as fundraising on the net is concerned, I would suggest setting up some form of group, whose members are detailed to pick up unique items like signed stuff.

It's then sold on e-Bay or here, and the profits go to a good cause.

I would suggest that, come Dreddcon, we get a sheet of A3 and get lots of artists and writers to scribble on it.

No, Mr Rennie, not in the same way we vandalised that prog last Dreddcon.
Although it was very, very funny.

We've since discovered the problem that led to Siku drawing creatures that didn't look like the ones in 'The day the law died'. He googled up some reference material to base his work on and got diverted to www.lastofthesummerwine.co.uk.

With hilarious consequences.
