The Art of 2000AD?

I think that a book reprinting only covers would not be anywhere near as good as one that talked about the different art droids' sequential work - after all, 2000AD is a comic, first and foremost. Personally, I'd find a book reproducing solely covers that are already reprinted to death AND available from 2000ad online boring. Also, there have been very few covers of late worth a damn.

A book that showed preliminary sketches, talked about working methods and contained anecdotes untold anywhere would, for my money, be infinitely more fascinating.

Actually, most of the covers used over the years *haven't* been reprinted, including quite a few of the ones I mentioned above. I'd also argue that the ones available here, while generally fine onscreen, are hardly of the quality you'd get in a printed collection.

MYSON

You're right about the quality. Still, though - I wouldn't buy a book of covers. I'm interested in the sequential art. That's just me, though.

Talking of reproduction quality, did anyone else think that the overpriced archive editions' reproduction absolutely sucked? ?25 apiece for lousy scanned editions of old progs, all in crappy grey and white. Why couldn't they have done them in colour on decent paper and at the right size? For that money, I expect a lot more than I got!

I actually had been dreaming about a book with all the Slaine art. Every Slaine Prog covers, Best Of Covers, Star-Scans, Quality Comic Book Covers, Graphic Novel Covers (Including the Hardback Souvenir Editions!), Game Book Covers (The Dice-Man and Mongoose Publishing Role Playing Game!) and the cover from the Martech game as well.

Sort of like what has been done for Judge Dredd!

I also want a book with all the Slaine contributed by posters on this forum, in the art competitions mostly and from what I have found on Deviant Art!

Perhaps all in the same book.

BTW, my computer screen-saver is slide-show of nearly all the Slaine covers I mentioned!

I almost forgot Slaine cover art from all the Spellbinder comics, the Glenn Fabry poster from that Sci-Fi Special, the Dermot Power poster from the Slaine Poster Prog, the two Slaine made so far in Zarjaz and this poster here.....

It featured in the special edition of 2000AD. I forget what it was called, but it was one of the earlier ones. I have it in storage somewhere.

I would also like to include Slaine art that was advertised to promote the Martech game.

Did I mention all the well known Slaine wraparound covers.

All the covers for the foreign language version of the Graphic novels.

As well all the famous pages depicting the best Slaine action scenes.

This is the original Star-Scan I found in old 2000AD Prog/Special Edtion/Sci-Fi  Special/Meg (I doubt it!) that I scored in second hand comic/book store in Sydney when I was down south for a few years back in the naughties. What ever it was. Here it is.....

Yeah, that's the one!

As you may notice....Ukko and the tree behind have been removed from the Quality Comic version!
