All,

yes, the wait is over.

I've finally got round to finishing off the exciting tale of DREDD, werewolves and the undercity that I started waaayyy back when.

It's available for you to read, vote and comment on by cilcking on the link.  For those of you that haven't seen any of the other parts, don't worry. They are all there waiting for you to read as well.

Any feedback good or bad will be gratefully accepted.

I don't want to just big up myself here. In the scriptest section of the site, you will also find scrotnig tales from Art, PVS and many others. Again, please take the time to read and vote to reward the efforts of your fellow borders.

cheers

Sorry Yawl, never seen this before.

I've mailed myself the complete script, and as soon as I eat my lunch tomorrow I'll start reading it!

Read parts 1 and 2 today, Scrotnig!

Lovely images, be nice to see Steve Dillon draw this!

I'll finish it tomorrow and come back....

Okay, first thoughts are that this would work really well as a strip, and at twenty-five pages would fit nicely into its own mini-comic, should anybody have the bottle to try it.

The plot cracks along with clarity, the ideas are (imho)  nothing spectacularly new, but they are handled well and the resulting tale is solid and consistent.

I?m no writer, I think of the plot in pictures first and put the words on later, which might have helped with reading this as a lot of the pages have a very nice visual feel to them. Due to featuring Prager, I see the cast as being rendered by Steve Dillon, which helped sort a definite ?feel? for the overall look.

This being a fan strip, I wasn?t surprised at the number of in-jokes present, as anybody whose read Whistler would know how many of those I try to use myself. Pleased to see that one boarder gets to become a judge, and that two of the top muso?s of the modern age get to have a judge in the family.

I like the way you were unhesitating to finish Prager?s tale in the most honest and appropriate way. Not sure if the revelation of the reason for the long walk is just to shock, but it works nicely, in the way that Mega-city allows the most unusual fact to go by unremarked.

I couldn?t believe I hadn?t seen this before, considering how long I?ve been reading the board, but I?m glad I have, and would like to see this in pictures one day.

That?s enough from me, I?m off to vote.

Thanks for the kind words, Bolt-01, glad you enjoyed the story.

The idea came out of a discussion me and a bloke I used to work beside had after the werewolf story from a year or so back.  We both enjoyed it but didn't think it was quite epic enough in scope.  So we bounced around ideas and came up with a basic outline of what we'd have liked to have seen.

Originally it was to feature Mister Bones again (as was the original) but he got nabbed by Diggle and Wagner for the alien story (how dare they kill characters that I wanted to use in my fan-fic!) so I had to come up with a last minute replacement in SPIT. It is, of course, no accident that SPIT, who is trying to kill DREDD, is an anagram of TIPS, who some people may accuse  of doing the same.

I'm glad that you realised that the reason I gave for Prager's long walk wasn't just to shock and yeah, I thought it worked as well.

Oh and PVS gets a name check because I used an idea of psi-inhibitors from one of his fan fic works NATURAL BORN VICTIMS. This story also lives somewhere on this site and I'd recommend you check it out 'cos it's great.  (And something I'd also love to see drawn up as a strip)

Thanks again for the kind words - and if I ever get enough money together, I'll think about getting an artist to draw this up and release it as a little mini-comic.

But thanks again for the kind words.

Tips: It's shocking how little response some of the fan-fic gets. I would have thought that loads of boarders would know this story and want to read and comment on the finale, but judging from the numbers of votes it has received I must be mistaken.

Shame on them all.

Nah, it's OK Bolt.

I wrote this mainly for my own amusement (and to see if I could write a tale longer than 5 pages). The fact that half a dozen other people have also expressed some interest is good enough for me. Again, thanks all of you for taking the time to read it.

It's hard work slogging through a SCRIPT if you are used to the comic (and aren't an aspiring writer/artist) so I can't blame people for not trying.  These things always work better when they are actually drawn up as a strip - you get much more feedback from casual voters that way.

But keep commenting. It will allow me to keep replying and shamelessly bumping this thread in the hope that it brings the ScriptTest page to more people's attention.

Read stories by Art, PVS and RC down at the script test.
