Does anybody else think it would be a good idea for 2000ad to be released as an ebook, (or would it called an ecomic/ezine?

Eliminating the postage would surely make the weekly publication more affordable to us foreigners.

I have two words in reply to that:

AIEEEEEE!

and

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

The problem with that is that there'd be nothing to stop an e-subscriber remailing their copy on to thousands of people.

I know that technically there's nothing to stop people scanning & sending their paper prog on, or even posting it on to other people, but actually you're talking about a great deal more effort.  Having it arrive in e-form just makes copyright infringement too easy.

The idea of an ecomic frightens me, I have enough trouble hoping the newsagent has not forgot my order(again) but having to mail an order all the time would just be tedious, but I'm not opposed for some of the older progs to be made into ecomics, to be sold again, particully last years, there seem to be some great stories that I missed :(

I'm a Luddite.

I like paper copies of things like comics.

I just hope the joists below my spare room continue to hold out... :-)

There are actually many ebook and emagazine website doing business in exactly this manner. The ebook readers have a security system that prevent people from emailling the ebooks to their buddies. each reader works in a different way. Go to www.mobipocket.com to find out how theirs works, the one I use.

I buy a lot of my ebooks from www.fictionwise.com, they also have many emagazine subscribers.

I can't read an e-comic on the bog!!!!

Anyway, think of us poor printers!!!!

Tu-plang

'I can't read an e-comic on the bog!!!!'

Exactly.  I want to be able to read my prog on the bog, in a psychology lecture or on the bus in the morning, dammit!

Slippery PD

Actually Im not totally against this.

Whose to say that a quarterly ecomic with the highlights of the last quarters progs, as a download for a nominal fee might bring in some casual readers?

Marvel and DC have E-comics.  Why not 2000ad?  In some form?

In some form, it`s a brilliant idea. Wasn`t the Metro Dredd going to appear here somwhere, sometime...?
Eventually everything ever said, sung, performed or written will be on the web somewhere. Therefore.....damn, I`m too tired to think what comes next

Oddboy

As long as they still make the proper printed version, I don't mind if they make an e-version too.
Better set your phaser to stun.
