Great work, Trooper McFad. I love how you've got Dredd looking up at the Mean Elf. Also, I seriously want to check out the art on your walls!
Quote from: Dash Decent on 01 December, 2023, 07:00:35 AMGreat work, Trooper McFad. I love how you've got Dredd looking up at the Mean Elf. Also, I seriously want to check out the art on your walls!
Thanks Dash
I love your "1st Double" and if you continue these each day it will be the dollop of double cream (or brandy butter) to the mince pies served up each day
As for the art these are my only 3 pieces of "original art" I have hanging on my walls. (I have a sketch book of con art filling up nicely)
The 2 smaller ones are from Ian Kennedy- a Strontium Dog picked up at the 40th birthday bash and a Hammerstein & Ro-jaws picked up at a Glasgow con a couple of years later. They are A4 on board and painted. He was a lovely man to meet and I was privileged to do so.
As for the 3rd piece well I have my beautiful and thoughtful wife to thank for that. It's the ink A3 and sketch of a Carlos Dredd (my avatar), she contacted him without my knowledge as it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary. I received it 3 months before he passed 🙁
Well its here and we open with a BANG. Fantastic openning folks and Trooper McFad your year long passion for keeping this venerable tradition going is paying off already.
Hats off sir you are amongst our finest indeed.
Trooper – up to your usual standard.
I know you've shown us how you do it, but I still don't know how you do it. Given my growing shortsightedness and the ever increasing thumbsiness of my fingers, I think I'd be hard pressed to stick two Lego bricks together these days.
Dash – I'll thank you to submit a poorer effort tomorrow. I don't want my own submission to be upstaged.
Great way to kick things off, Troop, and Dash. Mean on a shelf is brilliant. Hope we are getting a Dash cartoon every day??? I'm just glad mine falls on a Sunday - I know what I'm doing Saturday!
Quote from: Le Fink on 01 December, 2023, 04:02:32 PMHope we are getting a Dash cartoon every day???
I've got enough old entries to do that, but only if no one minds. I don't want to steal attention away from the lreal daily poster.

I don't mind at all - it s as adds sprinkles on top of the festive cheer 🎅🏻
John W that is brilliant!
Haha very good JW!
Wow JW so different to l lol last year. Wasn't expecting that.
They are great- I want to watch that football match😂
John W, I love both those. Brilliant ideas and very skillfully executed. I really love the "The decorations go up earlier every year", that's gold.
Coincidentally I had this idea come to me just this morning:
Rogue Trooper: Blighty Valley Christmas
Snow lies everywhere.
Bagman: Incoming!
Bird's eye view of Rogue down in a snow-covered trench. A small fast shape flashes rapidly towards Rogue.
Buddah-buddah-buddah! Gunnar blows it to bits.
Rogue looks down at the unidentifiable remains. "What the hell was that?"
Two WWI soldiers, one from each side, appear at the top of the trench.
"Excuse me mister... have you seen our ball?"
Great minds think alike, they say!
Quote from: Dash Decent on 02 December, 2023, 10:17:51 AMCoincidentally I had this idea come to me just this morning:
I made it just in time, then.
Blighty Valley was indeed my inspiration, and early Rogue Troopers are part of the wallpaper on the inside of my head, so it all came to me naturally.
Your "doubtful" double-ups aren't doubtful enough, sir. I fear you are stealing my thunder.
Carry on, though. I like 'em. (And I don't care now that my own submission is out of the way.)
Loving these so far.
Dash Decent please feel free to post a doubtful double up on Monday.
I did my back in yesterday trying to lift my daughter, in the stroller up a stairs. So I don't feel like hunching over a sketchpad at the moment.
And if no one minds I'll double up myself on someone elses post later in the month.
Will do, Vector14. I hope you feel better soon. Back pain is the worst!
Brilliant stuff, everyone.
Trooper, love how the Dredd on the telly is giving Mean-On-The-Shelf a good stare.
Dash, keep them coming, they're brilliant.
John, that Sláine one made me laugh out loud - just what I needed after listening to the audio version of the Horned God yesterday with all its not-quite-right-but-still-good voices..
And I was thinking of doing a Nort / Souther Christmas truce football match too! Ah well, back to the drawing monitor.
Well done Le Fink I love your idea of those 2 scallywags handing out presents, You should go back and finish it in time and post the completed image.
Love the expressions on the droids faces after receiving their gifts
Le Fink (Any relation to Machine Moyenne and the rest of the Gang d'Anges?), that is an excellent drawing and I love the idea behind it too. Rendering it as a prog cover is a fantastic idea too.
Just seen Dash's double (that's what I'm calling them from now on)
I like it's a Double double theme and it took me too long to get the Christmas saying- I blame it on 1/2 a sleep Sunday morning.
Quote from: Trooper McFad on 03 December, 2023, 08:57:12 AMI blame it on 1/2 a sleep Sunday morning.
I blame it on Dash's rubbish drawing skills. : D
Abolish Tuesdays!
Quote from: Le Fink on 03 December, 2023, 07:55:35 AMDidn't manage to get near finishing, and don't know if I'll have time today,
Just say it's a colouring competition! We all love colouring competitions.
The winner gets a bottle of your signature Gaultier/Sump fragrance on Christmas Eve.
Ha, I was wondering about that (getting someone else to colour it) but I've managed to do some more and will re-post when I'm happier with it... if that's OK. Found some colour brush pens and having great fun colouring in. Quinch is looking particularly lurid.
Wow Le Fink
The first was great but once the colours have been added it's elevated three fold
Well done getting it all done today

Thanks Trooper - yep it made quite a difference. I did a load of shading in there too. Too much in some places! Had to try to finish today or it would have sat there, accusingly.
That's clearly a Christmas prog cover from back in the day. We've obviously just all forgotten all about it, and Le Fink is a dirty lazy cheat!
Wow, Le Fink, just wow!
I love the gingerbread Dredd - or dare I say it - Judge Bredd? ("You're crumbing with me, creep!")
The shading is fantastic, particularly on the droids, and the holly is a brilliant festive touch.
You can tell me honestly guys - do my pics look big in this?
I've posted a couple of things today. Is it just me or do they look HUGE?
If it's not just me I'll resize the future ones.
Very much enjoying the entries so far, folks - looking forward to seeing what the rest of the month brings.
Shout out to Dash Decent for keeping us entertained with the humorous double ups - hope people are okay with some treble ups now...
Fantastic Mean Machine model on Day 1, and loving the Slaine and Nort images from JohnW. That faux prog cover from Le Fink is really lovely! Nice work so far!

We are... two funny cartoons from Dash (very good, keep 'em coming) and a stunner from Andy. Cor. Nice use of red there too!
And thanks for the compliments, much appreciated! It was fun to draw. Good to give the old droids a go. I was thinking Ginger-Dredd man, Dash? Thinking about it a layer of snow over the logo and holly would be good. Aargh must stop now!
Dash –
So now we know were the Sterhammer Silencers come from. I should have guessed.
I may not be as delightful, delicious, or as decent as you, but if you can double up, then so can I, dammit.
No one tries to displace me in Trooper McFad's affections.
Simon Harrison or Leonardo Manco – whoever you are, you killed Andy Lambert and stole his identity, didn't you?
Didn't you?
You might even have got away with it if your vanity hadn't prompted you to post on the Advent calendar.

What a great pile-on today! JohnW, a fantastic and funny idea, with just the right picture to carry it. But Andy, what can I say but "Wow!"? I look at your artwork and then mine, and weep. (Let's face it, I look at my artwork and weep anyway!) What an amazing drawing, and a fantastic use of colour. In fact, the artwork is so stunning it was only on the third look that I noticed there was a speech bubble to read. Honestly.

Very much the requirement for any Fleetway/IPC comics at Christmas! If you want to, why not? I'm sure everyone would be happy to see the next iteration. But only if you want to - the holly looks festive enough on its own.
(Thanks also for letting me know about the picture size.)

I really dig Andy's Nemesis gift to the termite boy!
I look forward to much much more!
Another batch of fantastic pics today and the Yule tide meaning behind them.

I feel attacked by this post. It may affect my Elf esteem!
Nice submissions Hoagy. Got to have some Xmas Slaine. Do cadets have eagles though... wasn't there something about cadets earning/qualifying for the full eagle? I may have imagined it and I don't have a regened to hand to check...
They're probably expensive to manufacture and have to be custom made, so you'd want them to reach adult size first. Or am I overthinking it?

Nope not over thinking. I was sure it was double shoulder pad and half badge but I checked a recent regened about Cadet Dredd and they're all sporting eagle pads, and full badges. cept for the tech cadets. They'd have the equivalent pads and badges differed too.

My ref. One of them anyway. And it is half badge still.
Wonderful stuff again today - cracking artwork from Hoagy - especially love the Pagan-esque headdress on Slaine.
Dash Decent continues to bring the festive cheer with his cartoons.
I seem to be the first one to submit in the morning - I hope that's okay with the designated contributor of the day. Early morning is the only time I have to post, otherwise it'd be in the evening as I'm at work all day.
But on a positive note, this is great fun to be involved in the advent calendar again - even if it is mostly sharing past work. It was always the highlight of the year for me. :)

I'm just glad I got enough people to fill the day's so the more the merrier.
We are only 6 days in and it's been stupendous already.
When I joined in 2017 it was a highlight and looked forward to it ever since. I was always curious when an old timer would speak of the golden years gone by and wonder what delights filled each day. So seeing some of your past works is cracking the door open to those days.
Looking forward the the rest of the month.

Given that links to images tend to get broken as the years go by, I have no problem at all with submissions from the old days being trotted out again. I wouldn't have had a chance to see them otherwise.
My favourite so far is the sensitive and atmospheric '
Winter Landscape with Sewer Droid and Turd'.
It deserves to hang in the Royal Academy.

Without comparing or downgrading anything in the thread this year, we have had some cracking entries in years gone by. You can see the kind of talent Andy Lambert brings to the table, for example.
(Andy, was it you that did the magnificent 'Spot the difference' scene at one time? I can't remember now but the Ro-jaws pic makes me think perhaps it was.)
There were several incredible comic strips, as if a page had been torn from a 1960s Beezer or some such, detailing the adventures of the Angel Gang. Beautiful artwork, very much "in the style of...", and very detailed as much of that older comic work tended to be. Pete Wells would usually record a song and make up an animation. Plus he seemed to have a hot line to the Nerve Centre as the 24th would usually bring contributions from Tooth artists, which was just the icing on the whole month-long(ish) cake.

That's it! That's the one!
Remind us how many differences to find please, Andy. I think there were ten?
Yep, there were 10 differences to find.
I remember,Ezquerra,McMahon,O'Niell for the Festive cover post.
Fink. I'd forgotten to say what a standout piece the Festive cover design with Dr And Quinch is.
And that's a Gem of a cover, cover from Andy.
I've only got 4 differences 😫 so far. I hope your not hood winking us and taking out snow flakes!
Andy that Dredd "cover" almost had me believing Elf on the Shelf was started back in 1980! Then I clocked the Will Ferrell block reference.
Quote from: Trooper McFad on 07 December, 2023, 10:47:24 AMI've only got 4 differences 😫 so far.
You're right, there are four differences which I think everyone will get right off the bat:
In the second picture, compared to the first,
> Dredd is wearing a different deodorant
> Leroy the teddy bear spells his name with an extra 'e'
> The load-out on the Lawgiver contains RR shells instead of AP
> The signs are powered by renewable energy.
It's the next six that are the real challenge.
Andy, are you able to edit the puzzle to put the two images side by side, rather than one under the other? I think that would make it easier to compare the two.
Well I found nine, but in my defence I have nothing better to do right now.
At first I thought that Dredd's left leg was one of the differences, but he seems to be missing it in both :P

Top sharkery there, Shark. Sombre yet seasonal. Fine composition and execution.
First class campbelling from the Campbell droid. Professional as expected.
Some treasures put on display by our archivist Funt Solo. (Can I name the artists? Easy and peasy. I'd forget my own name first.)
Happy too to see more of Monsieur Dasche de Scent and his fragrant follow-ups.
Andy's submission is a hoot, and it's certainly cheerier than that nightmarish-before-Christmas spot-the-difference. (I haven't spotted any differences because I don't like looking at it too long.)
It's all too easy to imagine an art historian of the future:
'It was long thought that Lambert's so-called "Christmas" works were playful variations on children's storybooks of the early 21st century, but it is now firmly established that they were the result of disturbing visions brought about by the artist's steady consumption of rolos and white spirit.'
Wow its keeping going. Amazing job folks. So much good stuff its hard to keep up with things.
Jim love your Tharg.
Dash Decent if you keep the quality of jokes up all calendar you deserve a Krill Tro Thargo.
Andy Lambert your work always a joy to see. So happy to see all these again.
Funto Solo master of all things lists.
AND that's just today. So I've not been keepin' up with commenting on here just too much good stuff!
I'll try to name them (L-R, T-B) from memory:

Yep Robin Smith. I pinched his occasional droid star scans for most of the droids in my advent submission... and completely failed to acknowledge him! Or Carlos or Alan Davis, for that matter. I hope you all recognised the reference material anyhoo. Giants all.
That works very well Sharky and is pretty darn sad!
Andy that is great. I had to look up the inspiration and it's that classic McMahon Charles Darwin Block cover. Brilliant. The spot the difference is also great. And creepy as fuck.
Dash quality stuff again!
Jim great Thargage. The life of a 2000ad droid... You love it really!
Funt nice to see those covers, only some I've seen before. That last Kevin O'Neill one, superb, would love to see that Apex sized.
What a great thread!
So Torquemada sends his terminator snowmen judges to throttle Mean Angel with a scarf and pose in Anderson's fashion shoot?
Makes as much sense as any of this, I suppose.
Happy Christmas, Woody.
Okay, trying this side by side as requested...

I don't think that's going to help you though - I must have been in a pretty evil mind to make the changes I did! They're tiny! I think perhaps I was so used to finding spot the differences very easy so I didn't want mine to be such a doddle, but in hindsight I probably made it too difficult! I assure you though, I wasn't so evil that I'd change snowflakes...
Anyway, good luck with it if you're still trying to find them - I'll post the answers tomorrow night.

I think my eyes have gone squiffy 'cos I've now found 10.5
Thanks Andy, that's great. My usual method for Spot the Difference puzzles is to flick my eyes rapidly back and forth between the same spot in each picture multiple times. Side by side makes it much easier to do.
It's such a great image. Is the Dredd in your picture based on the 3A figure?
QuoteIs the Dredd in your picture based on the 3A figure?
I did, yeah - kinda ironic that I used my toy Dredd figure to depict him surrounded by giant toys...
Up super early to let the dog out and decide to check my phone and low and behold Santa's little helpers had been working their little socks off!!
TLS we get 2 great little patcels and a great big one which turns out to be only part of the overall gift!
I don't know why but I have an image of Mrs Snow as Mrs Doubtfire (but she's a she and not a cross dresser 😳) Maybe it's too early in the morning. Anyway looking forward to the next instalment TSL.
Then we have another great little Dash's Doubles and a Funt quiz. Every day's like Christmas morning
Festive prog covers, part 02:
Left to right, top to bottom
1. Simon Davis
2. Mark Farmer
3. Liam McCormack-Sharp
4. Simon Harrison
5. Jim McCarthy ????
6. Richard Dolan
7. Colin MacNeil
8. Richard Dolan
Andy that's got a bit of IT feeling to it - small child lured away by utter evil in both cases both hope to see someone "nice"
Very good
Every time I see TLS I think Times Literary Supplement and I get confused.
I looked at the Cursed Earth stocking filler just before I went to bed last night. A mistake? Possibly. I drifted off asking myself, 'What's in the parcel? A goodwill gift commemorating the 2T(FRU)T outbreak? And Hershey sends Dredd to deliver it by hand? What's wrong with her? Just because the poor bastard crawled through the Mojave Desert once doesn't mean he should have to do it again. Couldn't a simple disciplinary do instead?'
And after a troubled sleep I'm expected to click on that musical link? Do you take me for a simpleton, Shark? I click on that and a curse is uttered or something. At best I'll come away with a horrible case of earworm. I can already hear it: it's the sound of Cliff Richard, Noddy Holder and Shakin Stevens being killed with knives to a backing of synthesised sleighbells.
I like the script, though. It has wit, and a brevity that keeps me from losing the narrative threads.
Get Dash, Hoagy, and Andy to draw it up for you. I bet they'd be happy to do it for a box of Quality Street.
That song. Dear Grudd. :D
Shark: it's more RED than John Wick. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Thanks, everyone, much appreciated. And thanks also to everyone who joined in :D
Yet more wonderful entries to the calendar - very nice Tharg submission from Mr Campbell, an interesting music video from TLS - cheers for that! I've yet to read the story but I will get stuck into it. Lovely snowmen Christmas cards from Woody, more zarjaz classic covers shared by Mr Solo bringing back some long distant memories, and as always, Mr Decent keeps bring the festive cheer! Well done all round!
As promised, here are the answers to the spot the difference picture - I'm sorry, I know they were REALLY difficult! If I ever do this again I'll be a bit less evil about it...

Mortis & Wise wins it for me, though there are many other great puns and funny lines in there. I also like the "yeti bit all her legs off" rather than "...both her legs off", suggesting she has more than two. Love the MC1 institute in the second piece, and the spoiler-tastic title.
Great idea reposting your Art stars entry M.I.K. Might did mine out, as I didn't manage to get mine finished in time to enter.
Speaking of posting advent stuff and comments, is there a thread regarding Drokktober art and those who submitted stuff for it ?
MIK that Christmas Day schedule is super- the puns are brilliant and the little details on the page is like a look back when I'd rifle through the radio times (back in the 80s)
And the short is fun too.
Dash keep them coming - love the "0001 ad" touch
That is excellent MLK - good Dredd too.
Can someone remind me what the Christmas Povey and Traskmaster refer to?
And another winner from Dash!

I posted a few on the creative common Does my art look big in this? (https://forums.2000ad.com/index.php?topic=27612.4905) thread, which is somewhere folks can post drawings and the like. I'll look at creating a separate thread next time if there's interest.

No blame attached, there.
It's one of those 90s thrills where you could enjoy the art (it's by Nigel Dobbyn, whose art I always enjoyed), but the story was a bit meandering. Eco-Bobby Trask has been teleported in from London (I would say) and is up against a mutant mega-plant that has taken over Central Park. The real enemy? Shady something corporate something explosions blah.
I like Nigel Dobbyn's art too. It is ringing a faint bell now.
That Medivac series he did was pretty decent. Wouldn't mind seeing that collected in the UC, maybe with Trash. Any other Dobbyns apart from the Stront stuff which I think is already collected?
Back to the thread, that is the grumpiest Mekon I've seen, Andy. Superb stuff!
Thank you, Le Fink! :D
Just read TLS's Christmas story - giving me some epic visuals in my mind's eye, and I'm very much looking forward to the next part. M.I.K.'s tv schedule was very clever and funny, and I very much enjoyed the Dredd strip. Le Fink - your finished prog cover looks awesome, giving off the fun Christmas vibes of classic covers of past progs. Great stuff!
Love the Gila Munja strip from Colin - stupid Gila Munja! More cute snowman from Woody - nice one, and that last cartoon from Dash actually made me groan out loud...!
Almost halfway to Christmas...!
Thanks, Andy :D

Ah, alas I think my comic strip drawing days are behind me now... to be honest, they never really took off. They just take me too long to do.
Speaking of taking too long, I may be in trouble with getting my new piece done in time for Tuesday - I'll do my best to finish it in time, but if I don't I still have plenty of older artwork to share, and I'll upload the new piece a day or so later.

If you like Andy we could swap slots. My second piece is only done in black and white but I could post that Tuesday, giving you the 17th December and a few extra days. I can then post the final colour version of my bit later.
Let me know if that works for you. Cool either way with me.
No worries, Andy.
Somewhat predictably, I don't actually believe in copyright (making me the prophesied and much dreaded Anti-Mills, I guess), so everything I post here is fair game for anyone to have a go at. It's easy for an artist to have faith in the script of a professional, or be sent one by an editor - but all my shit's free, whether or not it can be spun into gold is up to the wider editor (forum readers) and the individual artistic teams. I'm just an amateur, and I'm content with that, so any other amateurs who fancy using my offerings for practice are free to do so. I'd love to see some of 'em brought to life, that would be quite a bonus, but I'm content with the pleasure of writing the things, and the odd kind and/or constructive comment (which are worth their weight in tenners). Anyway, they're simply free, and if you manage to make a Walking Dead out of them then more power to you. I don't demand a penny from anyone. See, with me it's Christmas all the time :)
As a last resort, I guess folks hereabouts might dash out a few pages at the last minute for my tribute pamphlet (probably called You're Wrong! in a suitably annoying font, with all proceeds going to fund a recurring bi-annual World of Comics Awkward Berk Award) when I'm too dead to see it. What do you mean, there isn't going to be one? Well, that's just great.
TL: DR - Free shit, happy Christmas.

That's very kind of you, Colin - if you're happy to post a black and white image, then I'll make use of the extra time you'll be giving me. Much appreciated - thank you.
To TLS - I'd be happy enough to contribute a page if other artists are prepared to work on a page each? I realise that might not work in terms of narrative flow, but it's an option. I just can't commit to comic strips because of how long they take me - and I don't think I'm very good at sequential art, I'm better at single pieces.
Maybe you could do the character design and cover image? Then maybe we could interest a different artist for each part, break it up into bite-sized chunks.
I dunno. PM or email's probably the best place if anyone wants to continue this.
Anyway, hi-jack over - back to the spiffing Advent Calendar!
TLS, I'm calling you out!
Today's avatar looks like a dolphin.
Did you do that on porpoise?
Indeed it is a dolphin - a very special dolphin which I'm using for a very special porpoise.

Andy, that's beautiful.

Andy - great tribute
Staticgirl - love the concept of Care Bears, My little pony & Gremlins being wasted by Dredd. Is this pent up frustration from your Christmas childhood
😂 😂
Wow, the art is so good on here I can't even tell which ones I drew and what belongs to everyone else.
Andy, top drawer as usual. I remember that one too!
Staticgirl, your drawing is totally bananas, and I mean that in a good way! It's like an ice cream van explosion! Love the action in it. Prog worthy!
Note to self
Buy more exclamation marks!!!
Lovely work, Staticgirl. Accomplished, if deranged.
No doubt someone will be along soon to mansplain image posting for you. (You right-click on the thing, and copy the thing, and then paste it into the other thing – or something.)
Andy: fine work as always and, given the circumstances, touching.
Colin: Wonderful. It kept my finger poised for quite a while over the 'buy now' button for the complete Bone (but then the postman reminded me that I have too much stuff to be getting on with already).
MIK: you're well in the lead for the most-gags-per-square-inch prize.
Woody: more of the pointy-headed snowmen! I think I'm beginning to see a pattern.
Dash: still here, I see. (Joking! Know that you are cherished.)
Thanks John, very much appreciated.
Though I do think you're getting "cherished" mixed up with "banished" again.
"Accomplished but deranged" is one of the loveliest things anyone has ever said about my work also "explosion in an ice cream van". I was doing a lot of cold remedies when I drew it...
I had a large collection of MLPs when I was a kid so they are chaotic good but getting in Dredd's way. I think the Gremlins have zombified the Care Bears so they're the Don't Care Bears, or Despair Bears. Then there's an evil robot Christmas tree, just because.
I hoped it was mad enough for MC1 so I am very happy.
I love all the eyes of your characters. Lots of deranged looks there. The Christmas tree is the best single character on the page, I feel. I love how you've purposed two candy canes for arms. That's a brilliant, clever touch.
So much great stuff still coming in ever day. Staticgirl that really is excellent!
I love art that's so very detail packed - makes me sit looking for ages. (Reminded me of a book I had as a very young child called The Adventures of Ernest in Africa where every page was a detailed art explosion.)
My favourite bit is the Care Bear x arses, especially the one being blown up.
Exploded.
It had me giggling for a good 10 minutes. I don't know why, but it did. I'm not sure what that says about me.
I love the evil little arms on that Christmas tree! And the gremlin thumping the pony on the left!
There's some fantastic stuff here from the last couple of days and it's full of winners. Beautiful Halo. Huge fan of all the jokes on M.I.K's tv listing, some really great stuff there. And that Carmen 2-Town joke is so bad it's amazing.
You guys rule!
Yes John W, used to do a set of these every year, each year having a different theme. Obviously these were Dredd, others were Album covers, Doctor Who, Art, seaside.....
Super stuff staticgirl. It's like a still from a madcap cartoon. I like the various gremlin characters, all with different clothing and expressions. I think the maracas guy is my favourite, the carol singers a close second. Gizmo on a MLP very cute. Is that a saw on the far right? And a grappling hook?
Quote from: JohnW on 11 December, 2023, 11:29:04 AMColin: Wonderful. It kept my finger poised for quite a while over the 'buy now' button for the complete Bone

The black & white version or the colour version?
Quote from: Le Fink on 11 December, 2023, 05:21:42 PMIs that a saw on the far right? And a grappling hook?
It certainly is, that robot xmas tree is about to have more trouble than expected. I wanted to imply there were more shenanigans happening off camera. There's a wooden hammer hitting Dredd's helmet on the left. Also the big shadow over Minty pony is another Gremlin who she is about to attack.
Also nice to have Slaine represented when he was hottest.
Quote from: JohnW on 11 December, 2023, 11:29:04 AMIt kept my finger poised for quite a while over the 'buy now' button for the complete Bone
Years ago, I asked for recommendations for comics to read to Mini-Solo, and Colin said "Whatever the question is - the answer is Bone." We got it, we read it - it was a resounding success. Years later now - it still gets regular re-reads, and gets quoted a lot - especially the squabbling creatures.
(Color's neither here nor there.)
I have about 30 Bone books (one of which appears to be signed). I've discounted them because the style is too cartoonish to appeal without any specific recommendation. I may try for fills if it's so highly praised though :)
(I'm getting closer to posting my mega list of comics that I need help with. It's a lot more fiddly turning a spreadsheet into BBCode than I thought. On the plus side, at least I
can start a thread now I'm a proper member)

Colin YMCA, that is excellent. You know that a joke is really good when you run around repeating the funny lines to yourself.
"Wait until we turn the transmogrifier up to Morrison!"
I have to share it here. It's like running up to someone at work and saying "A pint? That's nearly an armful!" or "These are small. The ones out there are far away." It's so clever but if they don't know, it's meaningless. Who else can I share this gold with but the crew here?
"Aargh, Garth Ennis! What are you doing to me now?"
The whole thing is brilliant. You have captured the Mekon in the Watterson style perfectly.
Calvin & Hobbes is a masterpiece of a comic strip. I had a crack at my own C&H pastiche/homage/rip-off long ago (but for a 'Blake's 7' thing. It's a real pleasure to see your affectionate Dan Dare inspired version. And I know it's a typical C&H ending - space adventure turns out to be a daydream/imaginative play in a normal setting - but having it turn out to be Dad struggling to give him a bath is just so right it is genius.
"Aargh, Garth Ennis! What are you doing to me now?"
No one at work is going to understand what I am babbling about tomorrow.
Situation normal....
Dash - love the mashup idea. The Frankano had me chuckling and the Sweeny Toddler would be a great fit to the Mayhem of Robohunter.
Andy - another cracker you have some back catalogue and each as awesome as the next.
Colin- you never disappoint - I look forward to the Advent but actually it's your C & H mashup that I really want to see each year 😁 (pity C & H don't fit the criteria for your 100 comics thread as I'd love to read your review on it)
Yessss! Colin gives us a Calvin & Hobbes! I was hoping.
I've now got to the stage where I'm taking the quality of Andy's pictures for granted.

I've got Bone in a mammoth single volume black and white paperback version. It's very good but as the page count is huge, they've used thin paper and the printing on one side shows through the other a little. It's tolerable but noticeable. If I had the moolah and the choice (and had been able to see it in person before buying it - always the downside with online shopping), I would have gone for a different version.

C & H covers all genres - there's space travelling Spaceman Spiff, detective Tracer Bullet, time travel, dinosaurs, the Susie Derkins romance, the no-one-say-nuthin' noodle incident*, the Sisyphean labour that is the reading of Hamster Huey and the Gooey Balooie**, the school bully storyline of every low teens adolescent story, the faithful friend/pet/animal, family relationships, etc. It even has some humour tucked away in it. Gold, gold, gold.
* The Noodle Incident would be a great name for a band, or an album.
** Someone should get permission to write this and make it real. If "Lady Don't Fall Backwards" can happen, this should to.

What a wonderfully mad submission from staticgirl - so much going, and I LOVE the character design of the malevolent looking Christmas tree! The candy cane arms are inspired!
Colin's Dan and Mekon cartoon is an absolute delight - thanks again for stepping in for me yesterday.

On a more sad note, I just wanted to express my gratitude to Ian Gibson for leaving behind such a incredible legacy, so much artwork that has kept us fans happy for decades. I feel lucky I got to meet him a couple of years ago, and he was such a lovely gentlemen who clearly loved meeting his fans. He joins some of his peers who have sadly already departed and like them, he will be missed so very, very much.
Thank you Ian.
How good is that snowglobe? McFad, you rule!

Is he Jay walking, causing an obstruction?
I'm taking him down these perp are all just snowflake's
That's what I think he's thinking
Many thanks, many more snowmen pics to come
Love the snowglobe Trooper, be interested as to how you made this.
Andy, your pics are amazing as always, looking forward to your latest.

Another snowman classic Woody - do you have one for each day?
Funt luv'n the previous Xmas prog covers and glad to know we have 2 more to come.
Andy you just keep them coming they are class.
And talking of class - Dash these probably deserve a thread of there own where we can appreciate them in all their glory and chuckles
Keep it up all this has been superb and still 11 days to go. :D
Have more Snowmen, not sure how many more Dredd based ones, but have other themes I'd done in the past.
Pretty certain that Anderson's by Jason Brashill.
TLS gives us another hatrick. Not listening to the song for a fear of a crappy ear worm 😂. Dredd is great - is that confiscated presents he's sitting on? Still enjoying the script and I have high hopes of you sticking the ending- no pressure now 😁
Woody - just keep them coming
Dash - steps up again but I have to say I'm surprised that The Mighty one is running after another being?
Andy - another cracker I have a soft spot for Mongrol and I will create my own one day
Sharky's Thrill3r or Fill3r or what3v3r rolls along nicely. In its pacing and concision it's probably my favourite of all sharkish contributions to this forum that I've read.
As for the crappy picture, I'm afraid I don't really see anything crappy about it at all. In fact, when I get right down to it, I actually find it quite good. Sorry.
The crappy song though? I'm supposed to listen to it? Seriously? Go find some other poor fool to click on that link.
The rebar candy cane in Andy's Mongrol's hand warms my heart. Back in my construction days I once spent a dismal couple of weeks detailing the reinforcement in reinforced concrete. (It was probably a hazing ritual or the punishment meted out to all young draughtsmen when they misbehaved.) Ever since, any depiction of rebar makes me happy that it has nothing to do with me anymore.
Forgot to add to the general admiration for Trooper McFad's globe yesterday. Is there no end to the man's dedication in handcrafting unholy marriages of Christmas and 2000AD? They're like random exhibits from the most niche museum you can imagine.

I can't get over how inspired everyone is on the advent thread. It's a brilliant explosion of mad creativity and humour.
Quote from: Trooper McFad on 14 December, 2023, 10:13:41 AMDash - steps up again but I have to say I'm surprised that The Mighty one is running after another being?
The joke is meant to be a play on those "change the title logo" type covers that would crop up occasionally. Perhaps it's not clear because the drawing is so bad (even for me).
In this case someone is changing the "AD" to "CE".
You probably know, but there's a move in various circles to replace BC and AD on dates with BCE (Before Common Era) and CE (Common Era). The dating is exactly the same, but it's seen as being more acceptable and neutral than BC/AD, which are Christian. It's not just the "2000" in "2000 AD" that can be seen as out of date.
On progs gone by, it's been Dredd staring down creeps eyeing off the new logo and warning them to leave it alone. For this idea I thought it would be Jesus stopping them instead, seeing as the AD 'belongs' to Him.
The guy altering the logo is just a random creep. I don't know why I coloured his hair. I think perhaps I was going to make him look like one of the perps previously seen on a real logo change prog cover. He's not meant to look like Tharg. (He's not even meant to be running, just 'splayed out' in surprise. I know, I know - never play Pictionary with Dash Decent.)
I think I stopped colouring it because I thought the stark white seemed to stand out better, and also because I drew the whole thing in MS Paint and it turned out pretty rotten - you can tell by Jesus' terrible toes and fingers, also the posing of the perp and his misshapen, mis-sized feet. Drawing with the mouse is hard. I probably gave up!
Anyway, that's the joke:
What could they update the name to now? How about the AD becomes CE.
Okay, then who would stop the perp?
Jesus seems the logical candidate (most interested in it staying as-is). He also provides a Christmas connection.
It probably would've been posted closer to the end of the calendar - closer to the "Happy Birthday" - but I was quite tickled by JohnW's "Dash & St Matthew" joke, and it moved up the ladder.

Just catching up. A lot has happened! It's like the 12 days of Christmas.
Dash's snow globe (wow) and advent ammo (ha!)
Andy's Satanus Claws (stunning)
Funt's festive covers - these were after my time, but left to right and moving down, couple of Colin MacNeils, dunno, dunno, either Carl Critchlow or Kev Walker?, Steve Parkhouse, Sean Phillips? And Cliff Robinson
Sharky's great Dredd pic and enjoying the story, looking forward to part 3
Woody's Dredd / Santa shakedown - nice!
Dash's Jesus Prog - I got it!
Andy's Mongrel - ooo, atmospheric
Dash's tiny Santa - the fiends! DR and Quinch getting a few slots this year
Andy's Slaine's 'Santa sack of blood' - yikes
Another great set of submissions *applause*

Excellent year in review, Funt. Just what my rubbish memory needs: someone to remember things for me.
Can't believe the things I missed or forgot about.
I'm glad someone shares my love for Deadworld.
Wholly in agreement about Assirelli's Transit van.
Dash, Andy, carry on.
How did you colour that one (Mean Machine Angel) Andy? It's got a nice texture to it. Very good drawing.
Appreciate the write-up too, Funt. Portals was perhaps hampered by a strange title. And as someone else (Richard?) said, might have worked better in B&W. No shade on Jim Boswell who does a great job on Proteus Vex. Not top thrillage for me but I was happy to read it all the same, good to have a new thrill. Wouldn't mind seeing some more.
Keep the double-ups coming Dash!
Well done again to everyone's submissions the double dudes are keeping the standards very high that's Andy, Dash & Woody youse are putting sprinkles on everyday
So the today's big thumbs up goes to Funt for his awesome recap of most of the progs stories this year. Thanks for this it's great to get reminded and I can now focus me re-read's.
Onto tomorrow 👍🏻🎅🏻
Bugger, I've commented in the wrong place AGAIN! I'm so sorry - I was up late trying to finish my latest submission and then up early for work.
You are forgiven Andy when you submit crackers like you have this morning well worth the wait/delay/switch with Colin.
Just, really excellent stuff, all round it's been a great pop in and see.
Andy - love the tribute to Mike McMahon
Dash & Woody another couple of class submissions- you have both deserved your Christmas treats from Santa 👍🏻🎅🏻
Cracking stuff, Andy. This did make me chuckle! Man, the efforts everyone are going to are quite something.
Aargh what to do for my 23rd December slot. I'd like to do something Stront-based but it's weaving the Xmas theme into it... which Dash has done successfully once more... hmmm
Funt Solo you remain a genius!
Andy Lambert that was so worth the wait. As brilliant as ever.
Dammit too much other amazing stuff to name.
Trooper McFad your efforts this year gave really, really paid off. The calendar hasn't been this vibrant in years and years.
I've been really enjoying everyones submissions. Like I've seen a few other people mention, it's one of the first things I check everyday. Andys latest is fantastic! Everyones work is fantastic!
Great Slaine rendition, Jayzus, and very worthy of your 9,999th post! (He didn't think it too many.)
JayzusB - welcome to the party and what an entry! is that all old school pen/pencil or on a tablet?
Dash and Andy don't disappoint as usual another 2 crackers

Certainly planning on it!
Lovely drawing, Jayzus. If you do make a proper scan, please post it up.
(I'm so tempted to do something mischievous like sneezing, just to make you say, 'Bless you,' and waste your ten-thousandth post.)
Another catch-up - terrific stuff here:
Jesus, Jayzuz, what a gorgeous Slaine drawing. Lovely pencils. Is the colour down to the camera then? Kinda works! But yeah I'd like to see a scan too. Maybe for the 10,000th post...?
Dash's worst secret Santa ever - the expressions and body language are brilliant, hee hee
Andy's second and third (I think) Ro-Jaws so far... a fave character? Excellent work as per!
PJ's chunkiest of chunky Dredds. Well, you're just showing off. Which is great! Superb, I love it!
Woody's snowmen, now a bizarre Advent essential. Can you go the distance?
Andy's nativity scene - fab portraits, I mean, really, really good. I've missed a few hundred progs, who's the skullface?
Just seen Dash's Bodge Dredd
Dash - that is ****kin' hilarious. You win!
Great acting too - "the kids will love it" lol
Andy another cracker from your huge vaults.
Dash - what can I say I want one do you take PayPal 😂😂😂😂
That was genius made me chuckle all the way down the thread as I read each line. I hope the kid's weren't forced to model the kit or are used as forced labour when the orders flood in 😂
Bodge Dredd is awesome! Best one yet from Dash  Even better than the ammo Advent calendar which still puts a huge grid on my face!
Thanks everyone, we had heaps of fun doing it.
There's a great line in "The Great Rock n Roll Swindle" movie, with Malcolm McLaren spouting off about making a film with your rock group: "You don't just have four musicians who can't play, you've got four actors who can't act!" (And guitarist Steve Jones, playing the gumshoe role, trying to break into the room: "Whaddaya mean I can't act?"). I think I took it to heart.
Hard to believe that was 2012 and my 8 year old boy and 5 year old daughter are now 19 and 16, and he's taller than me.
They were great sports. It was a good day.

Quote from: Barrington Boots on 20 December, 2023, 12:01:42 AMFiends of the Easter Front!
Now this is my kind of Christmas. I am
all over this!
First play-through I was doing well, two clues with two numbers, and then my curiosity, that had done me so well up until then, got me sent through a portal to hell and a bit of eternal torture.
Knuckle down and make attempt #2...
Second attempt: I melted Santa Claws with a bun and got another clue! Then visited a vampire, but armed with only a rabbit under my hat I became a Stanza supper. However, I am now armed with the knowledge of what else I need!
Then I went to bed.
Now it's morning again and I've got me morning cuppa I'm off for a third go. I'll save Christmas yet.
Andy that's genius
Barrington- what can I say, that's superb, started it but had to put it back down as I'm supposed to be at work so will continue it later. The first couple of paragraphs are full of great festive lines so looking forward to reading the rest.
Do I review it on this thread or the "Gamebooks" thread.
Thanks both, I'm delighted someone has attempted it, especially more than once. Fortnight, you must be close to the end now!
I was overwhelmed by the twists and turns of the plot and my adventure ended early, I'm sorry to say. Nevertheless, the painstaking world-building, the commitment to narrative cohesion, and the fully rounded characters all ensure that I'll be back for another go.
A thrilling and – dare I say it? – moving contribution to Christmas, Boots.
Third attempt: Went the same way as the second... I knew it was going badly once I'd got all three clues and still didn't have that last battle ingredient. I'd assumed that my previous mistake had been to overthink the anchovy hint and I'd gone off the pier in search of fish. Instead I chose the other option there, but it didn't help! Rethink.
So...
Fourth attempt: By the simple expedient of doing a thing I'd studiously avoided doing the first three times - picking a fight! - I found the missing weapon, and my victory was assured!
I'm impressed how involved a story you got out of only 45 sections and a very linear progression. Excellent work Mr Boots! You should do a longer gamebook.

This is far too kind! I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to make four runs at it. I had fun writing it, but it's pretty daft. I'm not sure I fancy doing another one - at least another stupid one anyway - but hopefully something a bit different for calendar.

Dash that's definitely not dull that's chuckle out loud

Glad you had a go mate, sadly no red panda this time!
Dice could be incorporated but I think it'd be stretching the limits of the format, at least as a cheap and cheerful google doc with a farcical plot. I wouldn't mind a crack at a longer, more detailed, less silly story.. maybe with actual 2000ad stuff as I've tried to include any actual characters or locations in these. But that'd be a serious bit of work and would probably expose my lack of skill a lot more.
Macmac and catsblood all round!
Shot glasses of rocket fuel for everyone!
Lobsters in little knitted waistcoats of Prussian Blue!
Twenty-one years well spent, JayzusB.
I just can't wait for the hardback collection of your posts.
JBC, I love that Luke Kirby. A worthy milestone post!
JCB that's a great Advent and 10000th post.
21 years and 10000 posts I think you deserve a bronze star/badge (20000 - silver & 30000 - Gold)
Mods can you add this to JBCs avatar?
Well wow what a way to make your 10,000 post JayzusB.Christ - quite lovely and yet terrifying at the same time (and I don't mean the story, you are Finnegan Sinister!).
Many happy returns... and I guess I mean keyboard returns there!
Woody thanks again for another snowmen pic - I've always loved that view of MC1
Thanks also to Jake, Jim, Mike & Simon for their submission - I think it speaks for itself
Thanks for your kind words, all.
Quote(and I don't mean the story, you are Finnegan Sinister!).
I needed a touch of Photoshop to make my hair red and my skin pasty white - well, even pastier white - but I painted my nose red. Not sure why, it's not a whole lot different without the paint. For my 20000th post, I'll be doing Lobster Random and Absalom, and I won't need any Photoshop or paint either.
Anyway, with the 10000th post out of the way, thank you everyone who has contributed so far for such an amazing Advent Calendar. It's become a huge part of Christmas time for me, and this year hasn't disappointed.
Dash - you are tireless and brilliant and I love your cartoons.
JohnW - firing on all cylinders as usual with both text and artwork. The Wicker Man's Christmas jumper made my day.
Bad City Blue - absolutely lovely. Short but perfect.
Sharky - ditto; as usual first class art and prose. And audio too! Truly my stocking bulges this year.
LeFink - Absolute nostalgia-inducing genius.
Vector 14 - A worthy rival to Dash's work in terms of fun and quirkiness.
Hoagy - A lovely Yuletide Sláine there, and one I may have unconsciously ripped off. So cheers for that :P
Funt - All those covers of yesteryear are just the tonic at Christmas, and I always enjoy a bit of annual-style text pieces.
Jim- Classic Tharg being a bastard. Love it. I always forget you can draw as well as script and letter, you talented fecker you.
MIK - Now this is the kind of thing I miss. The mad, random, funny stuff that Tharg used to give us in the annuals and specials.
Colin - Absolutely top-notch homage-work as usual.
Judge Woody - those snowmen will be imprinted into my brain for a long time to come. Great stuff.
Staticgirl, you're one of a kind. Your art style just oozes, well, style.
PJ - you're one of Tharg's droids, so obviously you're zarjaz. I hope you get at least an extra oil ration this year.
Barrington, I really love the idea of the role-playing game. I haven't played yet but I'm looking forward to it.
Andy - Without a hint of hyperbole, I think your work is truly awe-inspiring. If I was Tharg I'd have already commissioned a year's worth of covers from you.
Trooper - what can I say? Thanks for everything!
Thanks Jayzus and way to celebrate your 10,000th - worth the wait!
Thanks to you all regarding the Snowmen pics, they were originally intended as physical Christmas cards printed out and sent to friends and family. Each year I would have a theme, Who, Dredd, beaches, album covers, pieces of art. Hope they have entertained you, think I have just enough to get me to Christmas.

Just so great that so many folks are keeping this the strongest Advent calendar for years and years. Too much good stuff to mention individually but both Dash Decent and Judge Woody deserve calling out for their relentless creativity. Oh and how brilliant is that Jake Lynch (and co) image. The man is such a talent and that just shows he's getting better and better.
Trooper McFad your endless drive to promote this throughtout the year is really paying off. Take a bow sir, I for one am so grateful for how this has all paid off and its a treat everyday.
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...

As usual, I declined to listen to the tune for health and safety reasons.
I think the picture could stand as the epitome of what the 2000AD Advent calendar is all about.

TLS - we reach the end but like all serials you leave us hanging?
Do this duo form the next crime fighting team?
Does Zanda get home or is he now trapped in this dimension?
Do they only do good at Christmas
What else does the weave come with? "Responsibilities and ..."
So much unanswered or are we at a Firefly situation?
By the way it was very enjoyable and I still have a Mrs Doubtfire figure for Mrs Snow- can't explain why
Once again, a fine selection of festive treats!
Congratulations to JayzusB.Christ on reaching a huge landmark post figure! Wonderful illustrations too, giving me strong Thomas Nast vibes! Lovely stuff! Thanks for the kind words about my own art too - much appreciated.
I'll have to finish TLS's story when I have more time as I'm rushing to get my second entry done by Christmas Eve - once again, a cracking image though summing up the theme of the Calendar as pointed out elsewhere.
Same goes for the game submitted by Barrington Boots - I'll have to wait until I've finished my next piece before I can give it a go.

Ah, no! I did a reverse-image-search (because I'm a web-fu master, motherfunsters!), and apparently it's a 3D model by a dude called Petr Nasirov (https://3dtotal.com/tutorials/t/making-of-judge-death-petr-nasirov-judge-death-creature-monster-skeleton#article-reference-search).
Thanks for finding out who did the original image. As for the image file, I uploaded it to Deviant Art and named it 'Gregg Staples ?' as I wasn't sure.
Quote from: Andy Lambert on 22 December, 2023, 10:35:12 AMOnce again, a fine selection of festive treats!
Congratulations to JayzusB.Christ on reaching a huge landmark post figure! Wonderful illustrations too, giving me strong Thomas Nast vibes!
Thanks! I've been a tad obsessed with Thomas Nast over the last couple of Christmases, so I'm very happy with that comparison. In fact I blatantly ripped him off for one of last year's entries (https://forums.2000ad.com/index.php?topic=49018.msg1096065#msg1096065).
And great work from all as the Calendar draws to a close. I'll miss it.
I felt bad that I'd not included the full wraparound version of Meg 355 (by Colin MacNeil), so here it is:

Great double-ups Dash and Andy! I'm running late and I'll post mine (much) later today. If anyone else wants to post, (looking at you, Woody!) don't wait for me!
Andy, that's truly stunning. Even aside from the spot-on characters, the background is just beautiful. I was searching for a word that described the atmosphere and couldn't find one, except for the Portuguese word saudade which I probably heard about on QI.
Dash, you're unstoppable. One of your best yet.
QuoteI was searching for a word that described the atmosphere and couldn't find one, except for the Portuguese word saudade
I just Googled 'saudade' and that's a lovely reaction to have - I'm delighted the picture invoked such a feeling. Thank you so much. :)
Dash and Andy keeping their standards up with their penultimate submissions. 😢
Very good, Andy! I've remembered pretty much all the ones you've posted but not that one.
Slaine's deoderant must be one of those brilliant 24 hour protection ones, cos Rogue is feeling no pain.
Just goes to show you were an absolute superstar straight out the gate Andy!
By der gotts! It's happened!
A Dash-LeFink collaboration!
Did no one heed the warnings?
On point again Woody 👍🏻🎅🏻
Well worth the wait LeFink - good Dash linkup.
Love the details of the Christmas jumpers & Alpha's reindeer antlers.
Thanks Troop!
Le Fink, that's magnificent! I love the Ezquerra dashes around the pudding, and the Christmas jumpers - especially McNulty's lumpy heided snowman. And the "Merry Christmas, old cucumbers!" is a brilliant touch.

Ah great, thanks, glad you like it! Enjoyed drawing it, thanks for the script! Somehow I slightly cocked up the words, putting 'be going' instead of your better 'go', otherwise it's pretty much there. Apart from McNulty's ear, which I somehow forgot to draw :D. Plus as usual various other things I'd like to change!
Yes had to put some Ezquerra dashes in. Well spotted! A nice device to draw attention, as the pud wasn't standing out much.
I added the Xmas message to make it a Christmas card and I think it works... The 3 human characters even have the look of wise men with the paper crowns and white halo like bordering. Complete accident but I like it.
I would like to find a decent comic font in Clip Studio Pro though, or import one - I'm not keen on the one being used here.
Another genius submission Dash. I do like "get your Tooth tat here" submissions. 👍🏻🎅🏻
Yes seconded. The previous Tharg phone face sketch also very funny :D
Thanks for all the advent entertainment Dash - surely a Kill Tro Thargo is on the way.
Quote from: Le Fink on 24 December, 2023, 08:40:22 AMthanks for the script! Somehow I slightly cocked up the words
No, not at all! My idea was just a back-of-a-fag-packet suggestion for you to do what you wanted with, if anything. Dignifying it with the word 'script' elevates it too much, I think! The whole thing is your work and it is brilliant. The Christmas card vibe comes across very well, and I really love that you did it in black & white with the contrasting coloured word-banner.
Quote from: Dash Decent on 24 December, 2023, 08:52:47 AMblack & white with the contrasting coloured word-banner.
A happy accident... tried colouring the whole thing in and it was a disaster. Went back to monochrome and randomly inverted half the background and it somehow worked. Useful thing, art software.
Bloody hell! I've commented in the wrong place AGAIN!! That's the third time - that's got to be a record for me! Sorry, guys....!
No probs Andy nobody's going to hold it against you 😂
Another fantastic submission to end your advent and it's brand new. Absolutely love the wee details and Christmas touches all over. (Like all your other submissions)
Christmas Eve at work.
Whiskey is, of course, involved.
And a power tool.
There see, a bonus haiku for you at no exchtra ch-hrrrp-charge. *hic* Happy Chrishtmas Eve, everyone!
It's Christmas here down under.
Merry Christmas, Tooth troops!
Well folks it's done
-Apart from a few Bonus submissions which are just as good as the first ones-
Every Advent I've seen or been part of has been great.
However you have to agree this years event has been special, super special, and that's down to all the Squaxx and Droids spending their time and effort's on creating wonderful art, prose, games and reviews.
It never ceases to amaze me what talent we have lurking on this board.
It was like having a dollop of my favourite Christmas dessert everyday- Trifle
I have to give special thanks to the 3 boarders who gave us the base for this pudding - Andy, Dash & Woody who were the jelly, custard and cream (they can choose which part they want to be) and the rest of us were the sprinkles and cherries on top. Sometimes we even got a dash of sherry.
Every day these hard working Squaxx shared with us old and new creations.
For me these were all brand new and a delight, funny and scary.
Again thanks to everyone involved and making this board a very festive and cheery place. Have the best time possible and we can all start afresh in the new year.

Seriously though, that properly made me laugh out loud
Stop it now just stop it -I'm on thrill overload.
Dash that "rubbish" you just threw into the Advent thread is just class
No, no, I keep telling you - 'crass' is spelt with an 'r'!
Seriously, thanks guys. I hope I didn't hog it too much.
I've spent the entire morning searching high and low, across thesauri and Dictionary.com for superlatives to describe my admiration for Dash Decent (and family) and failed to find one. You sir are the best of us (well aside from Trooper Mcfad who we have to thank for setting up the platform for your brilliance*)
John W your entry shouldn't get forgotten and Andy Lambert gets a second (new) piece of wonder as well.
Its been a Christmas miracle folks - thanks to each and everyone of you who have made the Advent Calendar not just what it used to be but amazingly even better! There's life in the ol' Forum yet.

So many thanks for your kind words, this was the first year I took part in these Advent shenanigans. Glad my snowmen went down well, and my Dredd / Father Christmas sketch was well received.
Have loved everyones submissions, extra applause to Andy for sharing his most amazing vault of art and treating us to 2 new ones.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Woody

Thanks to everyone for everything that's been posted on the advent thread. It's entertained me and made me snigger a lot. Also wow you're all so talented!

Last year I was
this close to being the custard.
Let that be a warning to you, Andy, Dash, and Woody: there's always someone younger, better looking, and more trifling coming up behind.

😂😂😂😂
Last year the advent was a cheesecake, you and Colin were that Cheesecake you can choose if you were the filling or the biscuit base 😁
Don't know what next year will be as long as it tastes good I'll be happy 😁
Judge Woody, that's excellent. I especially love how you've drawn Dredd. You should post that on the 'proper' thread!
To the other JW, your detournements were excellent! I'm sure that next year the limelight and the lime jelly will be yours.
Andy, what can I say but your contributions were gobsmacking every day. It was like having Clint Langley on tap.
To all the other contributors, too many to name - thank you so much, I enjoyed all of it.
"Aaaugh! Garth Ennis, what are you doing to me now?"
Colin YMMV, that is absolutely epic and is going straight in my save file.
Wonderful submissions for the final day.
Happy Gruddmas.
My Grud, I've just realised there's a whole page of the Advent Calendar I somehow missed. And it's feckin brilliant.
Technically, the 12 days of Christmas haven't finished yet, and I'm in a beer hall / restaurant in the snowcapped Salzburg Alps, so I'm still feeling it!
And I forgot to say, it's Page 7. Special mention to Le Fink's Christmas Stront and as always to Andy Lambert for his ridiculous level of talent. Happy Twelfth Night, everyone!
Thanks Jayzus... Stront Xmas cartoon script provided by Dash Decent :)
