Simon Davis has kindly given me the okay to sell this on. I am asking for what I paid for it, so am not looking at making any profit. £600 +p&p and it's yours. I may have to resort to ebay but I'd rather let someone here have it, at least then I know it's going to a good home.

As it says above - it's my best friend's 40th birthday this year and this would be a brilliant present if anyone has one they're willing to sell. I assume they're all 'large' but, if not, that's the size I'd like.

Off Topic / My Amazing R2-D2 Build Thread
07 January, 2017, 06:55:40 PM
I thought I wouldn't be able to afford it, what with a one year old and buying a new house but with a mortgage that isn't costing as much as we thought it's on! I had delivery of the first two issues this morning and will post some pics when I get round to it. I will be finishing the Falcon before starting on this properly so, in the meantime, just in case you haven't seen it:

Off Topic / Shameless Self-promotion #74

I know there was another thread dedicated to this but didn't want to hi-jack somebody else's 'gig'. I'm on the rewrite stage of the final 1,000 words or so of my first novel. I've had some positive feedback from my proof-readers and test audience, and some incredibly positive feedback and advice from a published author who has been known to write for our beloved prog from time to time but I now need to start promoting and creating an 'on-line presence' if I stand a chance of getting this thing in print.

To that end I have a dedicated FB page here: https://www.facebook.com/mark.spencerwriter?ref=ts&fref=ts and a Twitter account under @MSpencer_writer. Come and join me in my struggle towards publication, everyone is welcome, or just come along to laugh and point, I need the publicity!

Cheers.

This is a new facebook page set-up and run by me for all fans and collectors of original art that is in some way, shape or form connected to 2000AD and it's sister publications. All are welcome, there will be no 'unpleasantness' or 'playground politics'. If you want to be somewhere solely for the love of the art then drop on in.

Prog / Prog 1939 - Out on a Limb
11 July, 2015, 04:17:29 PM
Karl Richardson's cover is nice enough but doesn't really do anything for me (lovely colours though)

Dredd - storms to a close! Thoroughly enjoyed this tale and MacNeil's art goes from strength to strength (I'm seeing Mignola influences more and more lately)

Absalom - continues at a cracking pace as threads begin to draw together.

Helium - Absolutely the best thing in the prog at the moment and I won't hear a word said against it! Simply beautiful work from everybody involved.

Outlier - Isn't really hitting the spot for me; there's nothing wrong with it, in fact I can appreciate why some people love it, but my least favourite thrill at the mo.

Jaegit - For me, one of the best things Rennie has ever written, elevated by sublime art by Coleby with O' Grady's colours setting the whole thing off perfectly.

Can't believe it's nearly 4.30 PM and nobody's posted...

News / John Cooper's Funeral
27 February, 2015, 04:45:47 PM
have just been speaking with John's wife Lesley. She has given me permission to let it be known that John's funeral will take place on Friday 6th March at 2.00. If anybody would like to send flowers or, preferably, make a donation to John's chosen charity then they should be sent to:

Ernest Brigham Funeral Directors
51 St John Street
Bridlington
Yorkshire
YO16 7NN

Any cheques should be made payable to Bridlington Lifeboat Crews Club.

Let's do something good in the old boy's name to show our appreciation for all the joy, adventure and excitement he brought to our childhoods!

Off Topic / My Awesome Millennium Falcon Build Thread!
08 February, 2015, 05:47:41 PM
Alright already! Due to popular demand here's a brand spanking new thread dedicated solely to my feeble attempt to build the most expensive model I've ever bought.  I'd like to say straight off that I am a loooooong way off from being a modeller of anything other than amateur status (the hardest model, and the last thing I built, was the pod-racer from The Phantom Menace way back in 2000) so you will be witness to tears at some point I'm sure.

I will update the thread on a monthly basis (although the mag is weekly, as a subscriber I will receive a package containing 4 issues every month) as soon as I've build what I can and, next month, I will also include pics of the subscriber free gifts.  So, here we go and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have...

1: Exposed framework and part of outer hull

2: Dejarik Table

3:  Upper turret and quad cannon (I will be 'weathering' the cannon at a later date)

4: All of the above

5: Partial cockpit

Help! / Book title and author
07 January, 2015, 12:45:26 PM
Many, MANY moons ago, when I was but a wee teen, I read a novel that I absolutely loved. This would have been somewhere between 1979 and 1983. All I remember, apart from the fact that I absolutely loved it, is that it was about a boy who lived in a domed city surrounded by a thick, forbidding jungle and, for some reason, he has to go out there! Any ideas? I'd love to revisit it...

Prog / Prog 1908 - Viper Strike
15 November, 2014, 02:53:02 PM
Can't believe I'm the first, this late in the day!

Everything is awesome this week and careering towards climaxes. Only weak link for me was Greysuit which, after a great start, has lost my interest.

Cracking Greg Staples cover!

Classifieds / 2000AD subscriber Art Cards
28 October, 2014, 06:16:43 PM
Received the new subscriber art cards and they are gorgeous. They aren't really my thing however so am open to trade ideas although I would really like the new Devlin Waugh collection or Stainless Steel Rat phonebook.
