All the DC stuff was total bollocks. Really. (I have all of them, and rather wish I didn't.)

Very odd seeing Toxic! on this site, seeing as it was a competitior to 2000AD. What next - Deadline? Blast? Whizzer and Chips?

Darkie's War isn't too bad, but I've got Slaine in three different versions now, and didn't like it all that much first-time round!

The reprint I'd dearly love to see (and that's never going to happen): Glosnell and Oliver Frey's Terminal Man, which originally appeared in Crash and Zzap!64 in the mid 1980s...

I agree with most of this: Devlin is a huge disappointment, although it does suffer from only having six pages per month. It would have worked better in 2000AD and will probably be good when collected. Pat Mills' latest is, well, crap. It has good ideas, but his current ideal seems to be to take a one-to-two-part story, stretch it over six-to-ten parts, and call it a "book"... So much for fast-paced thrills...

I'm guessing that the city domes could be retracted when they weren't needed. The biggest problems I had with the recent Ennis story were with the art - surely Higgins could have at least looked at early 2000 AD Dredd art and based his work on that? To me, his design was little different from his other Dredd work. Also, Dredd himself was totally off-character, but I didn't expect anything else from Ennis...

As for the other things you mention, one possibly can be argued away: perhaps the cops were gradually phased out, and the ones in the strip were the last few on active duty (maybe MC1 is like the States, with slight differences for each sector). As for the ones where all the Judges are sitting round a table, I seem to remember several of them getting shot, thereby removing about a third of the city's entire force. Seeing as there are hundreds of thousands of Judges later, they must have done some intsense cloning! :)

Mind you, the silliest arc has to be the American one where all the Judges were fired, apart from Dredd, who was the lone force of justice in MC1. Mind you, almost the entire DC run of Dredd was total bollocks.

News / Re: New Rebellion GNs

Ooooh... Revere. I'd love to see that, and also Firekind.

As for hardback vs softback - I hate hardback with a passion. I don't see the point of upping the price for a slightly heavier book, but there you go. They always seem to fall apart a lot quicker than paperbacks, too.

My only concern about the current line-up is that people might see the prices of the H/B stuff and run a mile, whereas they'd have maybe bought a cheaper S/B. Oh well. Also, what's the crack with Dante? A few telephone directories, rapidly released would perhaps work for that, but if they're every six months or so (for a few years) I fear that we'll never see the final episodes collected...

Anyway, some suggestions:

The aforementioned Firekind (in the right order this time)
Revere (complete)
Stronty Dog (early, pre-2000AD stuff)
Luke Kirby (complete)
Abelard Snazz (including the one missed from Twisted Times)
Bix Barton
... and if someone can calm down Grant Morisson, the complete Zenith, all in one book, and including the stuff from annuals, etc.

That cover was by Boo? I thought it was a Flint one that had been mis-credited... Nice, though.

Likewise, I HATE hardback GNs, as they tend to fall apart quicker than softbacks. Again, I'd actually rather pay the same price for a softback GN.

Likewise, I thought it was very average and tried far too hard to be cool.

Shame the Meg didn't reprint some better Slaine, such as the first run, or the Spoils of Annwyn [sp?]

FWIW, I wish they'd just put all their money into the second film, as that sounds quite good. The first one sounds, well, crap, and too much like Stallone's movie from '95. Ah well, even if they do suck, it's unlikely that they'll almost kill the comic this time...

I doubt it. Then again, the Matrix copiously nicked stuff from loads of sources (Invisibles, anyone?)

Off Topic / Re: X Men 2 Verdict plus LOEG........

In the LoEG comics, she may well be a vampire, but it's never revealed. She still keeps the scarf on at all times to hide the bite. The film seems to be a tad more blatent, which is shame, but understandable. Having looked at the site, I'm a little more positive about the film now. I still reckon it won't be up to the comic book, but it might be watchable nonetheless. I very much doubt Quatermain will be an often shambolic, opium smoking chap, though, as he's Connery's character! :)
