REALLY???!!! Has nobody bagged this thread yet? If they have, I can't find it... So here goes.

Mike McMahon Slaine cover, eye-catching, but I can't see why they didn't use Nick Percival's Slaine Star Scan which is astoundingly good.

Judge Dredd: Bender takes an unexpected turn. Still not sure how this is going to end. Good fun.

Age of the Wolf: A bit of a twist here too. If I had been paying more attention, I might have been able to predict where this is going, but I have no idea. But for the first time since this series began, I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Steve Bisley back on Slaine for the first time since 1990. Much better than that awful Prog 1800 cover., and 3ight pages! Good stuff.

A pretty good prog this week.

I have just been re-reading "Served Cold" by Al Ewing and John Higgins in progs 1718-1725, and really enjoyed it. And Al Ewing clearly intended to follow it up with a sequel some time. I would love to see it happen, but it's been two years. Sort it out Tharg!

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere already, but does anyone know when -- or even if -- the next English book of Requiem is being published? (Preferably by Panini but otherwise any other version of where Panini left off.) Or has it been cancelled?

Two days ago this web article pointed out that the latest trailer for the new Dredd film describes Dredd as being based on a comic, but omits to mention the comic's name:

Then in the Comments section somebody speculates that this could be because in 2012 a brand called "2000 AD" might be off-putting to people unacquainted with it.

Now I know that we have already been through all of this before, most notably around the Millenium, but with a new block-busting film about to take the world by storm (I hope), it seems to me that this problem has just become more urgent. A new Dredd film should be a massive marketing opportunity for the comic, and the name is increasingly tying our hands behind our back. It's all very well saying that people in Britain know what 2000 AD is, but Dredd 3D will be unleashed on a global market, and many people will see the 2000AD logo for the first time when they go to see the film.

Please can we not let this opportunity go to waste and change the comic's name before the sequel (if there is one) comes out?

I think the story Inferno with Judge Grice is due to appear in the next Case File in May. It would be nice if at the same time the prequel, Purgatory, was released at the same time, if not as a normal graphic novel then as a Megazine supplement.

So according to Gary Spencer Millidge's biography "Storyteller," Alan Moore wrote a Judge Dredd story which was never published. Any chance of Rebellion digging it out and publishing it?

So according to Amazon there will be a Crusade graphic novel released in February 2012. WTF? This was one of the worst stories ever, who do they think will want it? And if you were a new reader and this was your first exposure to Dredd, would you ever buy another one?

I'm especially worried because by my calculations Crusade is due to appear in Case Files vol. 23 anyway, around 2013/2014, so does this mean that series is going to be discontinued?

No-one has looked at this in six years? Makes a bad impression on newcomers coming here for the first time, I suggest.

Now that I've finished reading Casefiles volume 9, does anyone know yet when we can expect the next instalment?

What amuses me every week about all these Dr Who threads is that about 90 percent of the people who post on them say: "this week's Dr Who, like every other episode since 2005, was utter rubbish, and Russell T. Davies is a total retard and should be banned form ever writing another one." Then the next week they watch it again. And as soon as it finishes they rush to their computers to discuss it.

Every week. For three years.

And somehow you just know that the guy on the other thread who said Dr Who "jumped the shark" this year will still watch every episode next year (and the year after that).

Now, if I watch a program and I don't like it, I stop watching it. I might bear with it for a couple of weeks in case it gets better, but if it doesn't then I soon stop. I don't persevere with it for three years and then religiously post my in-depth analysis of everything that was wrong with the script, plot, acting, continuity etc..

This all leads me to the inescapable conclusion that secretly, in the darkest recesses of your souls where you don't want to look, you actually (albeit perhaps masochistically) LOVE Dr Who and couldn't bear to miss a minute of it. Not in a nostalgic "it was good until the 1980's" sort of love, but in a "I can't get enough of the new series, it's like crack" sort of love. And you are living in denial.

I want no excuses now. None of your "well the kids watch it, so I have to," or "the BBC will thank me for my comments one day," or any of that unconvincing flannel. They say the first step on the road to recovery is to admit you have a problem. So take a deep breath and make a clean breast of it: for all its faults, all its niggling little plot holes or cheesy bit of dialogue, you can't get enough of the Ecclestone/Tennant series.

As therapy to help you get into the spirit of the exercise, I propose that all those afflicted by this strange new mental illness list their favourite three Dr Who episodes/stories sine 2005. The alternative is daily medication and a straitjacket. I'll get the ball rolling:

1) That Satan story.
2) The one with the stone angel statues.
3) The one with the werewolf.

I know it's a long, tough struggle at first, but you'll thank me one day.

Prog 1423. Judge Dredd by Gordon Rennie:

"I hear Dolman is doing well at the Academy."

NO HE BLOODY ISN'T!!! HE LEFT THE ACADEMY IN THE FIRST STORY HE EVER BLOODY APPEARED IN!!!

If you had read the ONLY story Dolman ever appeared in, i.e. if you knew who Dolman was, you would know HE IS NOT AT THE ACADEMY ANYMORE!

What is the point of letting OTHER PEOPLE write Dredd stories if they don't even bother to keep up with what John Wagner writes?

It's OK when they write their own stories with their own ideas which stand alone and are not sequels to anything anyone else wrote, but what is the point of somebody writing a story which is a DIRECT SEQUEL to Total War and alluding to a character from a story that somebody else wrote and then IGNORING WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT CHARACTER IN THE LAST EPISODE OF THAT CHARACTER'S DEBUT STORY??? It just doesn;t make sense and it insults the readers.

Seriously: I'm not a continuity nerd and I don't usually get hung up over these things, BUT: there must be a point, a threshold, a line, beyond which this sort of thing matters a little bit.

How can you refer to a story and tehn ignore the end of it? How can you have the GALL to write an episode in a series written by someone else and then make a mistake as obvious as that? It buggers up the story for people (i.e. everyone else) who have actually been following it.

Frankly, after this, I would rather read a prog with no Dredd in it than a Dredd story written by someone other than Wagner.
