I'm still weighing up whether I can make this one. I'd like to as I've only ever been to one before and that was Bristol 2008. Back then at that one, I managed to get a lot of stuff signed and some good sketches - Dredd by Boo, Dredd by D'Israeli, Dredd by Dylan Teague and Nik Dante by John Burns so I'd love to get some more to add to those.

Quote from: IndigoPrime on 02 May, 2024, 11:14:39 AMKill Or Be Killed: I thought that was great and it was the series that really got be into the whole Brubaker/Phillips thing. I'm now... probably a bit obsessive. Note quite a completist, but I've bought Pulp and the entire run of Reckless. Some other one-shots. All of Criminal (which I assume from "in which I bemoaned them only appearing once more" isn't in this list?), Fatale and Velvet. The Fade Out is missing, mostly because it's so bloody expensive on the second-hand market.

I've had KOBK for a while now and so far I've had 2 attempts at reading it all but on both occasions I've had to put it down (mainly because I read at night and get too sleepy) and then when I've picked it up again I've had to restart. It is very good and I must make a more concerted effort to read it right through to the end. I also have Criminal to read and thanks to Indigoprime mentioning the titles of other work by Brubaker & Phillips, I've now added The Fade Out, Pulp & Fatale.

In my older years, I find I'm moving away from the main superhero comics of Marvel & DC. I'm now more into this type of story or stories that have different takes on the superhero story. (I think someone else may has also said this?).
I used to be a huge fan of Marvel and DC and collected loads of comics up to about 2001, then family and children meant I didn't have the funds. In fact I had to sell off quite a bit but still kept my Spiderman and Batman collection as those were my faves. Just recently sold off the Spiderman ones now, (wow, those early McFarlane issues fetched nice prices. If only I'd realised when I was buying them monthly at cover price, I'd have stocked up!).
Now I'm just left with my extensive Batman collection which will be a harder wrench. I have a 1940's Batman comic, a good many Batman and Detective from the 1960's and straight runs of both from 1970's and 80's. It would involve a lot of work to grade and document these and I don't have the time or inclination yet. Apologies for going a bit off topic.

Anyway if anyone else has recommendations for comics or graphic novels like KOBK or ones that have a different take on the superhero story I'd be interested although I think I have most of them at the moment. Maybe I should start a new thread?

Just watched SISU on Sky Cinema.

During the last desperate days of WWII, a solitary prospector (Jorma Tommila) crosses paths with Germans on a scorched-earth retreat in northern Finland. When the Germans steal his gold, they quickly discover that they have just tangled with no ordinary miner. While there is no direct translation for the Finnish word "sisu", this legendary ex-commando will embody what sisu means: a white-knuckled form of courage and unimaginable determination in the face of overwhelming odds. And no matter what the Germans throw at him, the one-man death squad will go to outrageous lengths to get his gold back - even if it means killing every last German in his path.

Very good, very visceral, very Tarantino-esque

I'm gonna assume that's meant for me - yes I got most of them. I sold on the Master Race Premium as I wasn't interested. Such a shame that Eaglemoss went bust.

Yes it was, damn autocorrect.

I never got Shadow of the Bat v1 and didn't know about it till I saw it on Ebay. I would've liked it but its up for £35 now. In fact some of the books are up for crazy prices.
I've hardly read any of these unfortunately but I'm happy just to know they're there waiting for me when I get round to them.
I might sell the Batman Adventures books though as I'm not really interested in those (the completion in me was why I bought them).

Quote from: moly on 17 April, 2024, 11:46:58 AMJust realised it's over 10 years since the judge dredd mega collection started to be released no wonder I'm running out of space

Not quiet as The Mega Collection was January 2015 (though I suppose it might have been test-run in 2014).

And yes, as someone who bought that collection as well as Transformers and Batman, my shelves are all but spent.

I'm totally out of room, I got the JD collection, 2000ad collection (upto 140, now just cherry picking), Batman collection ( Inc. all specials + extras). That's on top of the rebellion trade pbks collected, all the JD, SD, RT, ND and Slaine sets, single editions and Battle Picture Weekly related editions.

I suppose I could sell off the rebellion trades as they're probably duplicated but I do like them still.

Towers, did you get all the Batman sub specials?

Quote from: Barrington Boots on 12 April, 2024, 09:55:21 AMI watched the first episode last night, it nails the aesthetic of the games perfectly - the look, the atmosphere, all spot on. Really looking forward to seeing the rest.

Yes also watched 1st episode last night with daughter for our weekly Sunday teatime watch instead of a film. I've played the games and they were my fav games so know it well and all seems great so far.
Downside is its gonna take me 8 weeks to watch the whole series with her.

I see the release date for this has been pushed back a month. Anyone know why? Was hoping to get this for my birthday at the end of the month.

In all seriousness, I always thought Clancy Brown would make a great Torquemada
