General / Dredd Complete Case Files (Question)
24 August, 2016, 12:26:10 AM
I now have the first 11 Case Files and plan on collecting the rest. I live in Canada and the North American volumes are only at volume 12 (and UK at vol 27 I think). The books switch to glossy color paper with this volume (from what I've read) so I think this would be a good volume to switch to collecting the UK collection at this point.

My question: Are there any differences between the UK and American volumes other than the jacket? I have read that they are the same, but looking online there appears to be a difference. For example the UK volume 12 is described as having 288 pages and dimensions of 18.7 x 1.6 x 25.8 cm (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/1905437919/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=11EQSZB3U8LJ2&coliid=IVH9ZXHQEZ06Z)
The American volume 12 is described as having 336 pages and dimensions of 18.7 x 2 x 26 cm (https://www.amazon.ca/Judge-Dredd-Complete-Case-Files/dp/1781084793/ref=pd_sim_14_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FFRGZGWVXK1VCMPKAFWR)

(Moreover UK vol 11 shows 368 pages and US vol 11 shows 400 pages, etc.)

Does anybody have an explanation for the differences noted on Amazon (48 page difference)? I want to begin collecting the UK volumes from here on out but would like to know the differences between the two and that I wont be missing anything. Thanks again!

General / Strontium Dog - Question
07 August, 2016, 05:18:07 AM
Hello, again I'm new to 2000AD and just getting started. I have read lots of Dredd so far and am working at collecting all case files, Im at #11 so far and they have been amazing. I also collected Rogue Trooper Tales of Nu Earth and really enjoyed them too (gotta love that Dave Gibbons and Cam Kennedy art!).

My question: How is Strontium Dog? I like how it is collected in Case Files type format and the art looks great (Carlos Ezquerra). Are the Agency Files worth collecting and do they collect the complete story? The reading order looks a little confusing online so far (Is the final solution part of the Agency Files and does it end there?) Also, is this is the same universe as Judge Dredd?

I just remember reading a colored reprint ages ago where he captures Hitler I think..? I remember it being awesome haha I would like to know what you guys like about the character and if you have read the collections.

Sorry for all the questions! I have really appreciated how this community has been so helpful so far, thanks everyone!

Hi, I am unable to post in several of the threads and cannot access my profile. Looking through old threads it appears a mod needs to change/update my privileges. Is a moderator able to help me out with this? Thanks a lot! (I am human, and not under the control of Call-Me-Kenneth)

General / Judge Dredd Graphic Novels - Question!
02 August, 2016, 07:10:22 AM
Hello, I'm relatively new to Dredd, having only collected and read the first 10 Case Files, Origins and America so far. Dredd is simply the best, so I'm diving in with both feet and plan to collect each new current Dredd paperback that comes out (starting as far back as Judge Dredd Day of Chaos and up to the most current story).

My question: Is there a list of Judge Dredd Graphic Novel reading orders? What has been released, what order to read them, and what is coming out soon?

I live in Canada, and looking on Amazon.ca I can see that I need the following books (in order):

-Judge Dredd Day of Chaos: Fourth Faction
-Judge Dredd Day of Chaos: Endgame
-Judge Dredd: Trifecta (This appears to be a crossover, is it necessary?)
-Judge Dredd: Dead Zone
-Judge Dredd: Titan

Is this a solid list or am I missing anything you would recommend? Thank you so much for any of your answers!

Welcome to the board / Hi - New 2000AD Reader
01 August, 2016, 08:07:11 PM
Hello, I am new to 2000AD, from Canada. The new (2012) Derdd movie got me into Judge Dredd several months ago, and I cant believe what I have been missing! In the last few months I have purchased and read the first 10 volumes of the Complete Case Files and America, a few volumes of Rogue Trooper Tales of Nu Earth, and the Zenith series (and all the free downloads from the 2000AD app). The humor/satire/violence of Dredd makes it my favorite book of them all right now.

I have been reading comics (mostly Marvel) for 20ish years but had never tried any European comics. I really appreciate the format and am not afraid to admit that European comics, specifically 2000AD, are much better than most American books (way better written - smart and unpredictable stories not concerned about PC).

I plan to buy recent Dredd graphic novels and Jaegir next. I look forward to asking a bunch of questions and reading up on all the things I have been missing. Thanks.
