considering his wonderful text pieces for the specials & annuals i think that the obvious choice for writing a 2000ad novel would be john smith.

& i'll reiterate stephen baxter, who loves comics. just thought of the superb ian watson too (who did a couple of warhammer novels)

The use of language confusion as a story idea (as seen in Sino Town) was already done in a John Wagner Dredd. Prog 95O I think. (Maybe wrong with the number!)

only if you want a story about chooper's mid-life crisis (that beieng peter carey's forte)... if you  want the greatest living australian sf writer, then greg egan's you're man! also props to damien broderick, sean mcmullen & sean williams.

marion zimmer bradley would have to write from beyond the grave, & i doubt if she would be appropriate for slaine anyway.

missing from your list are terry bisson (forget about the dredd film novelisation, this guy's own stuff is incidenary!), stephen baxter (who is a big comics fan anyway), pat cadigan, bruce sterling...

i remeber as wee one in '77 being eelctrified by the use "hell!" in harlem heroes? what's worse, cuss words like anybody would hear in the street (etc) or pictures of somehody having their head bitten off by a bloomin' great polar bear? (loved shako, by the way, but the giant spiders in flesh gave me nightmares at the time).

just read reefer madness for the first time after putting the white stripes "white blood cells" on... five pages of genius scored by 'dead leaves & dirty ground'... highly recommended! (pun intended? well, that's a story for another time. lights up.)

anything which helps tharg understand us earthlets' opinions of his thrills is greatly appreciated now that the voting coupons have gone the way of ro-jaws' place in the abc warriors (my only grizzle with mills' mighty return to form) is greatly appreciated. & coming from a library background (but hey! so do stephen pastel, microsleep arkhestra & the seraphic voiced merida sussex from the paradise motel) i understand the quandaries that you must have wrassled with when creating this system.

thanks! so this systems registers your opinion regarding each thrill in it's entirety, as opposed to your opinions of the story on an episode by episode basis? (which may change over the course of the storyline, such as the second series of mercy heights which in my opinion started off rather strong but went all pearshaped with john tomlinson bursting my suspension of disbelief with his apparent misunderstanding of the relativistic nature of black hole event horizons. yes, it's only a story, but it seemed so jarringly, unnecessarily wrong that it spoilt my enjoyment of that episode. won't dare go into how the series ended, or my thoughts on tor cyan here. lreally enjoyed armoured gideon by the way, & not just because it brought back shako. bloomin' loved that bear as a kid, i did).
