For anyone not sure what PLAY DREDD is about below is a teaser from the latest installment of the Walter's World scenario being played out at the moment:

+++WALTER'S WORLD+++

Judge Hardy set Tek-Judge Jones the task of opening the metal cabinet while Judge Two Feathers idly examined the picture on the wall, he noticed several serial numbers in the picture one of which he felt certain would be the combination to unlock it.

Using a device taken from a large belt pouch Jones let it search for the code. A small screen displayed the digits as they were found and Jones read them out as they appeared. "Eight, zero, seven, four, seven..."

"Five, nine." Finished Two Feathers reading the tiny serial number off Coxon's war medal.

"You got it." Affirmed Jones. The door hissed open as its contained internal environment was breached and cold vapours spilled into the room. The face of the cabinet slid up into a recess in the ceiling and once the freezing mist had dispersed it revealed the gruesome map made from human flesh. Nametags pinned to each piece identified its previous owner – Al Twanky, Zane Moisey, Reggie Herring and Hal Nugent. Two blank spaces remained occupied only by the nametags – Gabriel Barrett and Johann Gryme.

"What the hell?" Said Jones.

Established in April 2009, PLAY DREDD is a Judge Dredd roleplaying message board which welcomes general Judge Dredd discussion topics and Play-by-Forum Dredd & 2000AD roleplaying (making use of an especially designed lightweight rules system). The online Judge Dredd roleplaying community is modest and we always welcome enthusiastic members scattered across the globe who wish to converse and/or roleplay.

PLAY DREDD also provides news and links relating to the most ambitious Judge Dredd reference materials ever published, from the amazing and critically-acclaimed (and FREE!) STREETS OF MEGA-CITY ONE sourcebooks (of which a massive expansion will be published in April 2011) to roleplaying sourcebooks featuring materials easily adapted to official Dredd systems (GW, d20, Traveller) or can be used 'as is' with the PLAY DREDD rules which function just as well across a table as a computer keyboard. These rules favour storytelling and limit dice rolls to the absolute minimum when a hard ruling is required.

Two online Judge Dredd adventures (Class of 32 and Rules of Play) are ending and will soon be archived for the enjoyment of Dredd fans who haven't followed them 'live'. A new adventure: Black View - begins Saturday April 02, pitting three Judges against the horrors of the Black Atlantic.

Later this year, I am publishing a new Dredd reference guide called City of Dredd, available as a paperback. It's a gazetteer of all the locations from all official Judge Dredd/Dreddworld media, a story timeline and a primer introducing those new to the action-packed, blackly-comic and satirical comic strip that has entertained readers for over 30 years! The manuscript of City of Dredd exists as PDFs, available free of charge. Readers have requested a paperback to help them tackle this 400+ page monster.

Playing Judges by John Caliber

The nuts and bolts of Player-Judge creation for PLAY DREDD roleplaying games, culminating in three-dimensional, fully-rounded characters. Includes the personal challenges a Street Judge faces during his career (including the Brain Creeps!) Plus, how to join in the thrill-packed PLAY DREDD games, and the players' moral and ethical responsibilities to their Game Judge. With the addition of an Academy of Law anti-libido alert, what more could you ask for?

I'm currently running a one-on-one adventure for a 6 year old Cadet set in 2116 entitled Academy of Law: Year 2.

John Caliber is running Black View - a mission set on a stretch of Black Atlantic Wall

Upcoming games this year include The Trouble with Calculation (mine - in June) in June; New Cells (John Caliber - in July); BRIT-CIT BEAT: No Murders Before Midnight (John Caliber - in October)

I will be running one in August and October but I haven't settled on which plots I will run then.  December will bring AoL: Year 3.

New players always welcome: http://excoboard.com/PlayDredd

The PLAY DREDD Play-by-Forum adventure BLACK VIEW has just ended. It's one of our first games attempting to bring the game duration down to four weeks or less to stave off the insidious 'Game Fatigue' members have been known to have suffered. As always, a rough edit of the game play has been archived on the message board. BLACK VIEW will be adapted to HOT LEAD magazine's comic-screenplay hybrid format later this year.

My own plans for future games include AFTER NINE HOMICIDE (an adventure set in Brit-Cit featuring for the first time, Player-character Brit-Judges), NEW CELLS (a flashback to the 'secret' first generation of Judge Clones which caused chaos during the initial outbreak of 'Burger Wars' hostilities in Pre-Atomic War America), and WAR ON TEX-MEX, as war breaks out between Texas City and Mex-Cit (the players taking on the roles of both Texan and Mexican Judges!). The latter game will be accompanied by sourcebooks detailing further both of these exciting and dangerous locales.

I'm working in a series of sketches of designs for the various postulated world Judges never to have appeared in the comics, starting with the Canadian Mounted Judge:
