Didn't we do this a month or two back?  Anyway, I'm always up for a list.  Whether or not my Top Ten this time is the same as the last one, who knows?  It's always tricky trying to squeeze 30 artists into 10 slots.  Leans heavily towards the early days, but that's what I get for being an old duffer.

At this point, I'm starting to struggle for favourites - there are of course plenty of other artists who are very good. Looking at other lists, I'm tempted to fill out the final two places with:

It's very hard to choose an absolute favourite from that lot, but I still find myself leaning towards Ron Smith as definitive Dredd artist - though it's a hard run thing with Carlos. One thing that appeals to me about Ron Smith is the amount of interesting background detail he put in, but I suspect it's ultimately because he drew so much of the stuff that got me hooked in the first place.

I'll meet you in the car park and fight you right now on Cam Kennedy. Kennedy has drawn some --frankly-- quite shonky Dredds at various times over the years (circa The Warlord is probably my favourite for his depiction of the Man hisself), but his Mega City One has always lived and breathed like no other artist before or since. Even if we only had Midnight Surfer and Sunday Night Fever, his contribution would be definitive, but add in all those other great slice-of-life Dredd strips that he contributed... add in the Taxidermist, ferchrissake.

No. Cam Kennedy. Right up there with the other big hitters on the strip for me.
