Best Dredd artists has been done (probly) a million times, but for me the most influential/ important/ best are:

McMahon (pre his rubbish "Howler" abortion, so progs 50-200)
Bolland - obviously
Ezquerra - obviously x a million
Ron Smith
Colin MacNeil
Cam Kennedy
Brendan McCarthy
Steve Dillon
Kevin Walker
Ian Gibson
Henry Flint

BPP

Gibson
Kennedy (no, not Ian Kennedy)
McCarthy
Ezquerra
McMahon
Walker
McNeil
Doherty
Jock
Critchlow

However O'Neil's 474 cover is still my fave single Dredd image. Today. That I can remember.
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

SmallBlueThing

Having thought about it for a little while, id add john hicklenton and kevin o'neill to my list, but not necessarily in positions nine and ten.

Ouch. "Place in the top 11" - that's like being a great white blues singer.

well now he could well have been in The Commitments so its a fair comment.

Actually I feel real embarrassed about leaving him out as he was much my favourite '2nd wave' of dredd artists. Oz, Bloodlines etc.. amazing.

I think Kevin is very underated as a JD artist. He didn't do much...but what he did was great - "The law according to.." & "Varks" and didn't he do a JD strip in a Dan Dare annual? 1979? I think that was pretty cool.

Yes - I think Will was cool. OZ and all that. But for me, that's when the progs started to go downhill.

Colin YNWA

I'm a sucker for a list me. Here we go

1. McMahon
2. Flint
3. Bolland
4. McCarthy
5. Wilson
6. Ezquerra
7. MacNeil
8. David Taylor
9. John Burn
10. Kev Walker

As every with these thing a couple of proviso's I'm thinking Dredd as a strip if it was just drawing Dredd as a character Cliff Robinson would be in there but much prefer his covers to his strip work.

Ask me tomorrow and this'll be different.

Mike McMahon
Jock

then some others...

radiator

Mike McMahon
Carlos Ezquerra
Henry Flint
Kev Walker
Cam Kennedy

I'm actually finding it quite hard to think of the last two - plenty that I like but not sure if they're Top 10 material.
