I thought that the last Star Trek movie did the conceit of Kirk being born on the battlefield rather well.

This didn't seem to.

I loved me a bit of Conan in me youth but this doesn't yank my chain.

Just seen the young conan trailer i quite liked the look of it despite in another post complaining that Haloween 2 was to violent lol.

hmmmn, my word on the street was it was just pretty meh, tonnes of blood and tits but not much heart. Pretty much most movies these days (minus the blood and tits).

then again it is an AICN review so hardly profesional, but they generally eviscerate movies if they dont live up to promises and this get a just pass judging from this review.

Still haven't managed to get down to see Captain America or the pes movie yet so i doubt i'll be going out of my way for this one.

It's really bad. Saw it this afternoon and fuck me. I went in without much in the way of expectations to begin with. Mamoa's pretty good but the movie itself is just inept. Direction's mediocre, editing's choppy and the script is just terrible. No effort from anyone involved. It's not as ohmyfuckinggod shite as Conan The Destroyer but really, that's not saying much.

3.9 million dollar opening day. For a 90 million dollar film.

Estimated that thus far it's made nearly 9 million....only 81 million more to go to break even.

I've been calling this for what? At least a year now? But you know the production company, writers and director all knew better than REH, didn't they? Why explore such rich source material when you can come up with...this shit? Sigh.
