Facebook hacking incident

My Facebook has had 2 hacking attempts today. Apparently From Indonesia.

Make sure you are safe on there. As far as I can tell they didn't actually get on.

I had that happen ages ago, and nothing bad came of it in the long term.  Don't worry about it - and if you do worry about it, change your password now and then, but as long as you don't have financial details stored on there, there's not much damage a successful hack can do.

How do you know there was a hacking attempt?

Facebook emails you about multiple login attempts from unfamiliar locations.

Sorry missed the replies.

I was away from home, at Lawgiver. I tried checking FB and couldn't log in. LONG story...

When I reset my Password to FB it told me that the account was suspended due to attempts to access it from Indonesia. The same person later tried to get control by sending documents to FB purporting to be me.

I now know that the person failed to get on my FB at all. But sending documents... that is persistent.

I now get a Text anytime anyone logs in from anywhere other than my home PC or my Mobile. Even me if I use a different PC. I get a code in the Text so I can use the new device.

This even happens if I use a different browser I think.

When I use a new device (maybe browser) when I enter the code from the Text I can tell FB whether to allow only that access or to remember the device. So if I was borrowing a PC at a mate's I might say 'only this time'.

Seem to be a few people affected lately - weird that they persisted by impersonation though.

I guess it needn't necessarily have been Indonesia either, could have been from anywhere?

Oh indeed. It is pretty simple to appear to be somewhere else.

Many Chinese citizens have to use this just to see outside the Chinese Firewall
