Just got the latest interview up at 2000AD Review - this time with Steve Yeowell.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the heads-up, Gavin. The interviews at 2000AD Review are always worth reading - and, dare I say it, tend to be a cut above the Interrogation Cube feature in the Meg.

BTW - I asked in another thread, but it dropped down during the board outage: How do you go about arranging and conducting your interviews?

Rosso

things like 'mile of the masters' in the victor.varous stuff in long forgotten comic- 'champ' -gritty realism, atmospheric inky drawings of industrial britian, etc. etc. whatever happened to this great tradition in british comics?

gavinhanly

Sorry - so you did and I meant to answer.  It's just a question of getting hold of the email addresses for the writers/artists and asking them.  As there are more and more interviews on the site, this gradually becomes easier as they've got something to look at before agreeing.

Then I email them the questions and give them plenty of time to answer by return email.  It seems a much easier way than doing it face to face, although it does miss out on the interaction that such interviews can give.

I try to avoid the obvious questions but some, like the "How did you get started" ones, are hard to avoid.

I've got at least 2-3 more lined up but haven't managed to draft any questions recently, so I must start work on the next one...

Gavin,
Just wanted to say that I think your site has come on in leaps and bounds since I first visited it.
Good Job!
Cheers

It is very readable stuff.

However, I would suggest you vary the questions asked a little more.
That's meant as constructive criticism, as I do enjoy the interviews.

Pyroxian

Hoorah, he mentions that he worked on Zoids! Now if only I'd known that at Dreddcon so I could've got him to sketch me a Zoidzilla instead of a Zenith...

Thanks for the reply, Gavin. Any chance of letting us know who you might be interviewing next?

BTW - I didn't notice until today, but you might want to check the text in the Features box on the 2000AD Review front page. Or maybe Steve Yeowell's just got a novel approach to mixing his paints? ;-)

gavinhanly

Ah - I did notice that - but not till thins morning, and can't change it till tonight.  Oops...

Upcoming people who may be willing (I need to apporach them again) are Colin MacNeil, Carl Critchlow and maybe John Smith (with the latter one I have to try and be as different as possible though, answering Trout's comments...)

Trout

Good!

I told him to do that. It's why I'm the leader.

Well done, Gavin.

Oddboy

Good stuff!

(But the Sebastian O picture has a 'Devlin Waugh' title!)
Better set your phaser to stun.

gavinhanly

Curses.  My editorial skills are letting me down.

Well, you could always ask John Smith about the whole Siku farrago. I'm sure no-one's tired of hearing about that...

Byron: I think it would be good to hear the opinion of the writer of the tale, especially as to whether or not he saw the pages much before hand.

Looking forward to the interview Gavin, I always E-mail these to work to read with my lunch. Yum!
