Prog / 1793 Out for blood
20 July, 2012, 10:02:11 PM
First time ever on a Friday!

Aquila cover really nicely coloured by Leigh Gallagher who has an amazing splash page inside featuring a hareem scene.

Dredd by PJ is strong with the Sarah Palin-esque defence continuing.

Red Seas looks like Steve had fun drawing the turtle transition page and ironically as a Zenith fan there's a good slap here that could (but isn't) be his version of the Zenith Annual story by Jim McCarthy. I digress.

Leigh Gallagher is now as good as Bryan Talbot when on form
And Lenny Zero's muted greys actually work well on Ben Wilshers pages.

Its a great package. No letter's pages. Anyone else get an early prog?

Help! / Anyone got a 2000ad bookbinding stamp?
12 July, 2012, 04:27:01 PM
I want to do a hardback stitched collection of the first 25 progs
Has anyone had a stamp made of the original logo.
Quite happy to see you right for ability to use it.
Alternatively any of you use a bindery that has one made up already?
I don't want to go to the states, just UK.

Prog / Prog 1789 And he was a killer
23 June, 2012, 09:32:03 AM
Dredd - didn't expect this but feels good, a bit like the Walking Dead where the point is it never ends
Durham Red - old school fun with a rocket launcher
1947 Bit generic but really solid 3riller nice tone - art like a UK maleev
Ichabold great to have back
Dante - brilliant, but equally do and don't want it to end (like this) Simon frasers art and colouring by Gary Caldwell amazing

Overall this is as good as a story telling anthology gets!

I'm late to the Dante party but experienced enough to know ths is the hardest book to find.

So if you've got a copy that you're frankly willing to exchange for hard cash let me know.

Pm me to avoid scrutiny of your outrageous capitalist demands.

I've got the first tpb of Batman & Robin signed by Grant Morrison and he drew a nice bat symbol in it. It has a forbidden planet signed sticker on it. And it's not personalised.

I want to swap it for something equally cool signed by John Wagner as I've never managed to meet him. Ideally dredd or stront.

Pm me if interested in a trade.

All the best, Mat

Help! / Doomlord - eagle - Alan grant
15 January, 2012, 10:44:29 PM
Hi guys
Anyone know the last issue of Eagle that new episodes of doomlord appeared in?
Did it have an end worth collecting?

Some issues of eagle didn't have it so any list would be good. Wikipedia can't help!

Help! / Why isn't judge Anderson in day of chaos?
03 December, 2011, 07:00:26 PM
I've tried to get a definitive answer - was she divvied up to Alan Grant so excluded from John wagner stories?

She was in doomsday for dredd - was that the last time john Wagner wrote her in a story?

Does seem odd considering it's all revolving around an uncanny precog!

We've moved to Milton Keynes and the library is amazingly well stocked with Nikolai Dante.
I've been back on the prog since 1550 but if I'm honest Dante felt like I'd just arrived too late.

But read from the start over the 8 graphic novels these were my thoughts

1) What an amazing debut - brilliantly imagined world
2) Clearly this strip must have been the most consistently good thing in the prog for 700 issues - it shines
3) Didn't think I'd like John Burns but his war/pirate/kids own adventure stuff is amazing
4) Simon Fraser's women rival Manara's
5) Now I've got to go back and read the last 100 progs again

I did read them over a couple of weeks - I'll never have it this good again - what a rush!

Hi guys

I've got the first dredd chronicles and abc warriors in hardback I nthe original titan editions.
It says on the back that vol 2 McMahon also appears in hb can anyone confirm this?
Did the abc vol 2 co eout as hb?
Also the judge child in hb. I know a couple of you said these had loose pages but was it the hb editions.

I am referring to the original issued books not the deluxe range which has horrible over printing.

I think the cellar of dredd has the answers - are there guided tours (I m quite serious)?

Creative Common / Fan art from 1991
15 April, 2011, 02:08:33 PM
A nice piece my brother did for me in 1991. Anyone else buy the OG album?
#118
I've got the original Judge Death bollard story in 3 diff formats

Hardback Titan Judge Dredd 1983 first chronicles
hardback Titan Judge Dredd 2001 silver and black 14.99 cover - that deluxe type b&q book series
Case files

The original Titan book is the only version that reprints the letter tone and greys nicely.

does anyone know why? Did the transparencies go missing? The 2001 looks horribly over printed by comparison...

Its hilarious fun to watch a pre-Zenith Morrison and Yeowell take over a fairly straight sci-fi tale.

In one 6 page episode he introduces Zoid heaven, abandoned factories, wild Zoids and robots having existential dilemmas. there is some blatant terminator / alien lifts but the whole thing is so enjoyable it feels on a parallel with Alan Moores Captain Britain tales.

You can read it all online at blood for the baron zoids

I did for my sins pick up all the individual spiderman and zoids issues. Star wars turns up as a third filler story.
